Burnett Park — Attraction in Jacksonville

I grew up across the street from Burnet Park. I've seen, throughout the years, the changes they've made, but also the repairs they DONT make. Burnett park has steadily gone downhill over the years and it seems like nothing is being done about it. The trash cans alone are always overflowing, hence, there's trash blowing all over the parking lot, the playground, basketball courts, etc. AT MINIMUM, there should be someone to empty the trash cans once a day, or maybe every other day. Trash being picked up on the property would also be a plus. I understand that people throw trash on the ground, but I think simply by emptying the trash cans that are full, would help the situation of the trash blowing around on the ground. Burnett park is in Mandarin...... An area where people have gotten used to being relatively clean. This is not the case with the PARKS...

This park has: 1 - Basketball court (6 goals) 4 - Tennis Courts 8 - Baseball Fields 2 - Restroom facilities 1 - Small Kids playground

Been coming here for years and it's been gradually expanding and it's nicely maintained. The tennis courts and the baseball fields are in great shape while the basketball court is decent but can use fresh lines. The kids playground is pretty small, it's been updated in the last 2-3 years but it's still an afterthought compared to rest of the park. LOL

The tennis courts, basketball court & most of the baseball fields have lights so can actually play until 930-10PM, later if you get permission to turn the lights off yourself.

There's ample parking as long as it's not baseball league weekend. Those days...

Park has a lot to offer. Free tennis courts, basketball courts, playground, benches, picnic area, baseball fields, restrooms, swings, and shade. It also has a lot of parking spaces. My daughter had a wonderful time playing at the park and I could see us coming here again.

The only thing that appeared possibly concerning was that people would pull up and meet another car and then drive off. Maybe a meeting place, maybe some sketchy activity. It didn't go unnoticed but I want to think the...
