I've been shopping here since about 6 months after it opened. Their fresh produce selection represents all the best kitchen basics you can ask for and then some. It is important to note, their fresh is really fresh. This is not a place to stock up on tons of produce items - it's not coated in paraffin or treated to resist decay like chain supermarkets. Hence the rather chilly interior, the entire store is essentially a refrigerator. Heartier items like carrots, bell peppers, onions, apples, etc. save very well from week to week. The meat selection is fantastic, and usually priced substantially lower than anywhere else - especially the chicken & pork products. I love the fact they have a full butcher counter and the beef is nicely displayed. Even here it pays to shop smart, we spend about $75 - $100 per week across two trips, and it goes a VERY long way in comparison to most places You also have to really look at what and how much you are buying. Use a list and check the online ad they post (even though they could do more with the ad, it's not a miss - just a tad weak). We generally meal plan, buying meats in bulk and freezing them and do the same with certain produce items. This place is great for that. While the store is very crowded (which I don't mind, it's the nature of these types of places), we can usually get in and out in 30 minutes or less, even on a full shopping trip. They really do a great job keeping their front lines staffed. So even if there is a long line at checkout, it moves very quickly, and that is a HUGE plus these days compared to big box chains. If you want to eat healthier and "closer to the earth," Freshfields let's you do just that. Don't expect to go in and stock up on tons of fresh produce, otherwise you're throwing money away because it is just going to spoil before it gets eaten - it's why we generally make two trips per week, or at the very least every...

Read moreFreshfields is a great place to shop on a budget. I commonly get a phenomenal deal on wings, chicken thighs, chicken breasts, shrimp, salmon, hamburger, chuck roast and ribs. There's a good selection of fresh fruits and vegetables here as well and most of the time they're procured from local farmers.
Most of the time I'm very pleased with what I get here and there's no denying the prices. I've had issues with onions being rotten on more than one occasion but the rest of the food has been good.
This place can definitely get crowded and those with claustrophobia should probably stay away or medicate heavily. It feels somewhat like shopping in a rat maze. Most of the time the other customers are courteous but it hasn't always been great jocking around other shoppers.
This is not a one stop shop grocery store like Publix or Winn Dixie. You won't find any canned or boxed goods. You'll need to go elsewhere for snacks. Give the cheese a try though, it's surprisingly good. Crates of eggs are also very affordable most...
