Gym Addict Fitness — Attraction in Jefferson Township

I must preface this review by stating that I have been athletic my whole life but never found the value in gyms. I have worked out at home in my personal gym or recreationally outdoors. Gyms have usually intimidated me in their culture and scope and I have always shied away from them. Needless to say, I was reluctant to join Gym Addict. I was concerned from previous gym going experiences that I would find it too intense and intimidating. I was more than pleasantly surprised at the culture I found here at this gem of a gym! Not only do I feel comfortable with the community that frequents it, but I have even started building relationships with the other gym goers!

First off, the owners Pedro and Lina are a power couple and two of the nicest and welcoming individuals. They can be intimidating to meet at first (both are professional bodybuilders and it shows!) but have zero ego about it. They are passionate about fitness, genuinely interested in their members, and are present on the floor most of the day. I had recently suffered from a slipped disk in my lower back and had been nursing the injury for a couple weeks. When I finally felt good enough to start pushing weights again, I headed back into the gym. Pedro came up to me and said he hadn't seen me for awhile and asked how I was doing. I explained what had happened and he said it was good to see me back, gave me a hand shake, and wished me a good workout. The same thing happened the next day when I saw Lina. They are both very aware of their members and make you feel welcome anytime you drop in!

There are a million big box gyms in Chicago that you can throw money at for equipment and setting, but you will be hard pressed to find one that will offer such a personal touch. Don’t get me wrong, there is every piece of equipment you could want from an extensive dumbbell selection, barbells, various weight machines, treadmills, attack bikes, rowers, ellipticals, and the list goes on! I’m always finding something new!

As if that wasn't enough, right next door is their signature meal prep business Fittingly Delicious. It's a one stop shop for your nutritional needs and a great place to refuel after a kickass workout! They have supplements, beverages, and pre-portioned, healthy, meal options to keep you on track with your diet. They also recently opened a smoothie bar with tons of options including acai power bowls! All of this is more than enough to sell me on a great experience, but it's the passion and hospitality of the owners and staff here that keep me coming back. I am an independent personal trainer that has worked at a few gyms in the Chicagoland area. I have lived in the Independence park area for the last couple years, and would frequently notice Gym Addict during my commutes for work as it’s conveniently located right off of Irving Park and I-90/94. My curiosity finally got the best of me and I stopped to scope out the place. I hit it off with the owner/bodybuilder/coach/trainer Pedro, right away! By the end of the week, I had spoken to all of my clients, and decided to move my business at the start of the following month from a gym I was currently training out of in Lakeview. From a training perspective, this gym has everything I need to train my clients regardless of their goals. From a member’s perspective, this is exactly the kind of gym I want to work out in myself. They have every machine and all the fun exercise gear you can imagine. Beyond being fully loaded, it was more the culture and atmosphere that I was drawn to. Pedro and his wife Lina are both truly some of the nicest and most genuine and caring people I have ever met and worked with. They have been more than accommodating and welcoming to me and my clients. Lina is nothing short of amazing and is also extremely inspiring. She pretty much runs all the behind the scenes work that keeps Gym Addict and Fittingly Delicious (their food meal prep restaurant right next door, that is stacked with all your nutrition needs in one place!) going strong. Pedro is an incredible coach and trainer, and will get you the results you are looking for. They have both taught me so much already about running a business, different exercises techniques, all types of things about nutrition and supplements, and so much more. They treat their members and employees like family, and have really built a special community out of their passion for health and fitness. All of the members that you see on a day to day basis are super friendly, and I’ve really enjoyed getting to know many of them in a short amount of time. I truly couldn’t have made a better choice in choosing a gym to train out of. I can’t explain it other than it has all just felt meant to be from the second I walked in! This place is a hidden gem! I personally started going to this gym off a tip from a co worker, and I could not be more thankful! Pedro the owner is a unique owner/trainer that has all the old school equipment plus the new stuff, but his training style is just fantastic. It’s a very friendly vibe, but everyone in there seems to be very committed to working out and getting results. I have always worked out my entire life “I’m 48” but this gym has me feeling that bare bones “rocky” vibe. I take my family to another health club in town that is more social , great for kids and a bit posh, but I personally just needed to get back to a real gym that makes me wanna work hard and get and see results. Pedro has done that with gym addict. All ages seem to be coming in, all are welcome but I just love that the members are there to get after it and not waste time.

I have been doing one on one training with Pedro and love it. He has multiple trainers in the gym, and several members are there to compete in bodybuilding, but not everyone.

I Also love that his wife has an attached food business called deliciously fit that make prepared meals for keto, paleo, vegan, etc! Who knew? All in our neighborhood and for a very reasonable membership. Oh and they have early hours! I do my training at 5am but I can show up early at 445am to warm up and the owner is already there!
