AMC is either too big to care or they were heavily affected by the Covid pandemic and haven't fully recovered yet. They certainly seem like they are in trouble if this is the new "normal." At least this location anyway.
It's been a few years since we were last at AMC 24. In the past, the experience has been pleasant and typical issues would be corrected pretty quickly. Today we arrived early for a noon movie. The theater wasn't open yet and many other patrons were waiting patiently in their vehicles. Once there was signs that the doors were unlocked everyone made their way inside. We purchased our tickets while we waited so entering the theater was quick with a fast QR code scan. Being the first few through the doors on a Monday at mid day I would have expected the theater to be clean and tidy. Popcorn was seen on the floor still from the night before. The bathrooms were also not very clean. The flat surfaces were hardly wiped down as well. The butter station had butter spread around as well. We purchased our popcorn and drinks and made our way to theater 10. When entering the theater I noticed the lights were still on. As I went to notify an attendant, I observed the switch cover was broken, allowing me to flip the switch myself. I then returned to our seat. My wife told me she wasn't happy with how salty the popcorn was so she was going to get a refill in hopes of better tasting popcorn. Once she left I observed in the upper right corner of the movie screen there was a light shadow which made me believe a light was on in the projector booth that should have been off. I notified my wife to let an attendant know. She returned with a new batch of popcorn, which was still heavy on the salt.
The whole movie the light shinning onto the screen from the projector booth was never turned off. Therefore there was a part of the screen that was washed out. We even observed shadows of people walking back and forth in the projector booth. Needless to say it was a distraction the entire time trying to watch the movie.
I asked for a manager after the movie and she informed me that she knew of the issue and told "them" to turn off the light but that didn't happen. She quickly. Gave us passes for a free movie in the future. She stated they are in the process of getting all new projectors and there is a lot of work happening in the booth.
We heard the IMAX projector was down as well.
Ultimately we left feeling underwhelmed and disappointed with AMC. The theater seats were also heavily outdated now that I think about it.
Even for a free movie I don't know if it is worth returning simply based on the cleanliness, uncomfortable outdated seats, and poor attention to detail. When we go to movies we like to let the rest of the world fade away so we can lose ourselves in the movie. We did not achieve the standards we are accustomed to seeing. For our time and money, other theater options certainly look...
Read moreUpdate Third try, not the charm. Decided to give this theater chain another try - decided to sign up for the A-List to go see a few moviews this month- I just want to give anyone who may see this a warning that you are signing up for a 3-month minimum, and that wasn't advertised anywhere upon signup. My 1-start statement still stands. When I went to cancel because I just wanted to try, there was a $44 cancellation fee. Will keep this through the 3-month minimum, but will probably not return afterwards.
PREVIOUS POST* Went to see Smokey and the Bandit for the 45th Anniversary and they started the movie about 45 mins into the movie. I'm going to stay and see if they are going to restart the movie from the beginning, management has been alerted 3 times.
Update - it took them 30 mins to fix the projector. This gave away about 30 mins of the middle of the film. If this would have been a new movie or I had never seen this before, I would have been quite upset.
Update 2.0 - I regret having bought all my tickets for the summer in advance, because I am here for the golden girls special and the exact same thing is happening in this movie. I will be requesting refunds for the other tickets I have purchased for the remainder of the year. The lights are on full blast and the movie has been started in the middle. What the heck is going on you guys? This time they never...
Read moreEverytime I come which isn't a lot but practically everytime there is always some fool turning their phone on during the movie or talking on their phone in a public restroom. There needs to be more of a stress during the opening that people can and will be escorted out if they are causing too much disruption with their electronics. People just don't care about others anymore so companies like this need more enforcement of this policy. Today went Sar in the back row and thought would be ok at 1215 showing. Low and behold this fool sits literally three seats from me and starts using their phone like it's no big deal. Told them to turn their phone off twice. Third time they thought could "scoot" down to the other end of the isle and still use it. If your phone is too bright it doesn't matter genius. Got up and had to ruin my movie experience by wasting time to get an amc employee. Not sure of they actually did something but person was not in the same row anymore or left. Also I don't understand people in using their phones freely in public restrooms. Just gross and awkward to others in there. Amc needs to post something about no cell phone use in the bathrooms at the main entrance to them. If is urgent enough for them to talk on the phone the could either wait or tell the person will call you back. As it's really gross and awkward for people that don't use their...
