Texas Roadhouse is one of the most consistent experiences of any chain. Pretty much every time we eat here (any location) We have a pretty good meal, great service, and a good atmosphere. It's so consistent in fact that will continue to patronize Texas Roadhouse in the future.
Unfortunately, this was the first real miss that we've experienced at a Texas Roadhouse. They've been so good before, that it pains me to leave a poor review, but hopefully my honesty will help them recognize some opportunities and be better prepared.
Granted, the place was packed on an early Friday afternoon. That may be the catalyst for the poor experience that we had, but they are a business and being busy should not be an excuse for subpar execution.
As always, the service was great. Staff was exceptionally attentive. The fact we had more than one manager dropping by throughout our time there to check in on us. I'm not one to complain, so I didn't have much to say at the time. Though I did share a couple of concerns both with the server and one of the managers toward the end of our meal.
As I said service was great. What wasn't great was the length of time we waited for our meal. Honestly, it was really busy and no staff member was sitting around, they were all hustling, so this could be forgiven. What couldn't be forgiven is that the food arrived cold. Very cold. As if it had been sitting in a window waiting to be picked up for quite some time.
Meanwhile, the entire staff is doing the required line dance in the middle of the restaurant. I totally get brand standards and brand USPs, but on a busy Friday afternoon when you are barely keeping up with delivering food, maybe the manager should have some leeway to make an exception or to delay something like the Texas Roadhouse line dance ritual? Just a thought.
Anyway, the food wasn't just cold it was very bland. Even the steak lacked any real flavor. The side order of ribs prices at $9.99 actually made me chuckle at first. I was hesitant to eat them because I wasn't sure whose ribs they were. Were these Chihuahua ribs? Or maybe a raccoon? They may have been the smallest ribs I've ever seen. Maybe three or four oz of ribs for $10? Real lack of value on this visit. I think I'll skip these next time.
The last piece of the broken puzzle was the atmosphere. It lived up to the roadhouse name and then some. About halfway through waiting for it for, the music became insanely loud, shout-across-the-table loud. And a real roadhouse, one with a live band, this would have been expected and maybe even enjoyable. For an early Friday dinner and a chain restaurant, felt more like somebody let their kid loose and he found the volume control for the whole place. To make matters worse, I think it may have been Texas Roadhouse's proprietary line dance song that was playing so loudly, but it was stuck on a loop. Played twice before they lying danced, mixed in a little I think Joe Diffie, then play it again three times at maximum volume for somebody finally turned it down only to have it turned up again about 10 minutes later. It eventually came down to a tolerable level, but we were just about on our way out at that point.
As I said it's beginning of this review, Texas Roadhouse has been the most consistent chain restaurant we go to. In fact it's one of the only chain restaurants we continue to visit. Even with this off the mark experience, we will continue to eat at Texas Roadhouse. We'll probably even be back to this location. I believe this was a one off and really just a bad day. The service was great and I'm sure food in the atmosphere will match up in the future.
Hopefully, this will provide some insight for the team and they can take a little more control over the very manageable mini disasters that colored...
Read moreHere's what I experienced when I first arrived it was pleasant I'm at a fellow veteran and we are having a discussion and we are talking about how the world affairs are and how the military's been handled etc etc soon afterwards the atmosphere changed from the server bartender and then the manager I sat there for a while watching football went outside to smoke several times and then when I went out for about the fifth time and literally had the manager coming around the corner and then freaking out at me for no reason it was like what are you talking about and he was like well I thought you were leaving I thought your your dashing and I was like no I'm not dashing He's like well and I explain my situation as my vehicle it broke down and it was in the shop so I was spending a couple of nights in this area here's like oh okay okay I'm going to I'm going to go ahead and let you have another drink I had only had five drinks that's it five drinks and it was like well that's great to you and then he said well but you need to run your card real quick so we can create a tab for you and I was like that's fine I don't mind to do that so I let them run my card and I sat there and I enjoyed my drink and I watched the football game during that time the bartender walked up to me handed me my final bill and basically told me to get out of there At this point I only had six drinks and I was quiet as the grave I was quite pleasant and didn't open my mouth to anyone didn't talk to anyone other than the prior service member whom we had a good conversation with and we watched football game together. Straight up the two bartenders were Latina I'm not sure nor do I care what the race was for the manager but this behavior was so offensive and insulting I literally for the first time actually called the main office and filed a complaint. If you guys are bigoted against veterans and servicemen I do need add that the vet that I was talking to happen to be darker skin and I might add that I'm not Caucasian but you don't treat people especially paying customers like something you don't scrape off your shoe I was even decently dressed I was pleasant I wasn't disruptive You guys every single one of you had no right to screw with me and I didn't appreciate it You need to leave people alone let them along their way we're coming into your establishment to eat and have a good time and that's exactly what I wanted to do You have no clue about my situation or anyone else's situation at all what you did was just grateful disrespectful rude...
Read moreWe had not been to Texas Roadhouse and sometime, but my daughter (17) chose it for her birthday dinner. Unfortunately we were seated with a waitress who is already overwhelmed by a very large table, and that was taken out on us. The waitress disappeared for some time, as we were still waiting for birthday knowledgement, boxes to go, and our check. When we saw her and she went from asking if everything tasted okay to oh do you need boxes now, I reminded her of the birthday, and we were met with a recommend about how she's been very busy with a huge table which has kept her very busy, and if I wanted her to still do the birthday thing she could but didn't know if we still wanted it or not.
Like why would I not still want her to do the birthday thing?? We mentioned it to the hostess when we checked in, mentioned it twice to the waitress, so why would that even be a question?
Unfortunately this waitress was very overwhelmed with the large table that she had, was literally walking individual checks back and forth to cash them out instead of taking multiples to the register at the same time, she got frustrated when one of the parties asked her to split the check, all while neglecting her other tables.
This is reflected not only in the tip she received, but we are definitely going to speak to management because in all fairness to the waitress that we had, it may have just been more than she could handle and she needed help. Not to mention the whole situation should not have been taken out on us, and my daughter made to feel like her birthday was less than important compared to the seven to eight other birthdays that had been acknowledged before hers while we were there.
Texas Roadhouse has good food, and normally the service has been decent. But unfortunately because of the volume of traffic, hour and a half wait to be seated on a typical Saturday night, and just not wanting to have the hassle of a loud environment, we have avoided it. This made it an even more disappointing visit to have a bad situation...
