I have a disability where I have trouble walking and standing for long periods. I appreciated the golf cart rides to & from the entrance.
I did not appreciate the long lines getting inside. I was in a lot of pain afterwards standing there for so long.
I had reserved the headsets & scanner. At the entrance where you get your tickets scanned to get inside, I asked an employee where to go pick them up? I was told to go straight ahead and I should see a stand or sign. We saw nothing.
We asked another employee who said last year they were located as soon as you got through the security check and got your ticket scanned. Not this year. We would have to exit and walk to the trailers to check ourselves which one had the headsets & scanner. Once we had picked them up, we had to stand in the long line all over again to get back inside.
The employee apologized to me several times because he said he was not told where the trailer would be this year.
I told my friend there was no way I could do all that walking & standing in line again. She said she would go. Luckily, a guy at the VIP line helped her out.
The set up at the raceway is not ideal making it very difficult for the fans. No signs. No announcements. No email to tell me where to go or what to do. My friend told me returning them was difficult also to the point that other people were getting angry and saying things about the return process.
It was unprofessional and appeared it was slapped together at the last minute.
I also did not like where handicap parking was located. Unfortunately, it was raining. There was mud everywhere. Whose idea was it to put disabled people to park where there’s mud? Do you know how difficult it was to walk through there? Drive through there? I can even imagine the people in wheelchairs!!! Whomever idea it was is an idiot.
It was great that there were plenty of toilets. Even though half of them were not flushed.
Thank goodness there was WiFi because my cell was not working. Even then, it took awhile to get tickets we ordered in advance to open up to be scanned. Same for reservation for headsets and scanner. It was not an easy process. We saw people standing off to the side trying to get their tickets to open for scanning.
Buying tickets in advance is better to avoid another line you have to stand in.
I had 3 problems so that’s what I...
Read moreNot mother/family/infant friendly! My husband and I have loved attending races at Kansas Speedway since we've met. Last year, we had a child and decided to take the year off. Recently, we've had several successful outings to Kauffman stadium for Royals games and other public venues, so we were hoping it would be alright to make a trip to Kansas Speedway this fall for the playoff race. It is disappointing that there is no mother's room, so when my 11 month old got fussy because he was tired, there was no where for me to retreat with him for a quick nap or a break from his headphones. Also, the line for the family bathroom was at least 10 deep every time I checked. I ended up changing my son on the ground to the side of the concourse. Thankfully, I'm no longer nursing or pumping because I would have had to do that in a bathroom stall. Hopefully, Kansas Speedway follows the lead of other big event venues and sports complexes like Kauffman Stadium and initiates a mother's room so that guests with infants feel more welcome at their events. Unfortunately, I would definitely not recommend taking a young infant to Kansas Speedway. I'm not sure when my family will be comfortable returning.
Otherwise, the facility is great. The seats are narrow, but no big deal for a 3 hour race and the sections with the tables in front are totally worth it. Put on your walking shoes if you're headed to a race because it'll probably be a pretty long walk to your seats from your car. But parking is free and you can bring a cooler with drinks and food. Overall, it's...
Read morePut simply. A huge disappointment. With possible poor weather conditions we did not decide to go until the day before. Seeing a NASCAR race was on my buddy’s bucket list. After driving five hours from OKC to the racetrack we were told we could not purchase preferred parking tickets at the track because those tickets were only sold on line. This left two old men (71 & 64 year old) to walk from the north forty parking area.
After walking by the preferred parking area on our way to the nearest track ticket booth, we couldn’t help but notice it was less than half full and the gate attendants were still turning fans away at its entrance.
When we got closer to the ticket booth, we noticed it was closed with a sign directing us to the mid grandstand area so we walked over to it. At the ticket window the young lady’s speaker didn’t work and I had to hunch over to hear only to discover she didn’t know what she was doing. I was going to purchase tickets in stands near the exit to pit row to keep our walk back to our vehicle after the race as short as possible.
While waiting for her to figure out what area that was, a guy with extra tickets yelled out tickets for sale. My friend asked him where the seats were and they were close enough, so we just bought tickets from him.
During a brief rain delay we went to get refreshments and ended up waiting over 30 minutes for two drinks. We went back to seats and watched the first half of the race before deciding to leave. I doubt I’ll ever go back to the Kansas...
