Bob Evans — Restaurant in Kansas City

One of the worst experiences we've ever had in a restaurant. The food was barely warm, and the entire restaurant was a cesspool of filth. Being a truck driver, I can safely say that there are rest stops cleaner than this place!

We stopped here after a ball game because it was the least busy place we could find. That should have been out first clue. The second should have been the sneers we received from the girl at the register, and the host who seemed like he was in over his head. It was ten minutes before we were seated, even though the waiter/host, and the two other waitresses, only had four (five at the most!) tables they were helping.

As he led us to our table, we noticed that every other table in the restaurant was covered with the remains of previous customer's dinners. The floor was covered with trash; straw papers, napkins, and food were some of the things we literally had to step over to get to our table! Trash even fell from our menus as we opened them!

Our meal, while the food at least tasted how we expected it to, was just as pathetic as the atmosphere. We waited for nearly twenty minutes before our drinks were brought to our table, and an hour had passed before our food arrived. Forty minutes after ordering, we could see some of the meals appearing at the pass, and there they sat for the twenty minutes it took to prepare the rest.

The restaurant was never more busy then when we arrived, and while there was plenty of work to do, the wait staff seemed to barely be going through the motions. The garbage and dishes remained as they were when we arrived, and as I'm sure they will be until long after we left, piled high amongst the tables and floor.

They waitress serving us thanked us many times for our patience, but only asked us once if everything was okay. When our food finally came to the table, we were missing key elements to our meals, such as sour cream for baked/loaded potatoes and ranch for a salad. She left to retrieve these, returned 10 minutes later to ask if everything tasted okay, and didn't even realize she'd forgotten the things we still needed! (plus drink refills by this time!)

A sad experience, punctuated by a dirty look when we didn't leave a tip. And I'm thinking "Come on, what did you expect?"

If our kiddos hadn't been starvin' Marvins, and had they not enjoyed their meals, we would have raised the roof. But, because we were already exhausted from the day's festivities, and because our food tasted marginally good, even though it was only warm, we suffered through it.

And speaking of suffering through it, thanks for following this review this far. Let it serve as a warning to you that you don't have to suffer through the rubbish as we have.

We have been here a few times always loved it! We went today “Mother’s Day” it was a last minute decision to go to dinner and we were so worried about not being able to get a table. Let’s just start off with how amazing my experience was today! The young man who greeted us as we walked in was so nice the wait was as expected not longer and he was concerned about making sure we were not forgotten about (thank you sooooo much!) Once we were seated our waitress Darla greeted us and was so sweet she wished me a happy Mother’s Day which was honestly one of the first times anyone besides my kids or my husband recognized me all day so that made me feel extra special! I told her happy Mother’s Day as well! She was amazing grabbed our drink order and our food order! When the food came out Darla made sure to bring a fresh round of drinks right before the food! Then the food came and let me tell you about AMAZING my kids who are sometimes picky eaters left happy plates! My husband got the pot roast it was mouthwatering DELICIOUS! When Darla came to bring Deseret that we order d she handed me a handful of Hershey’s kisses and said they were from all staff to me as a special Mother’s Day present! And let me tell you that again made my day! The manager we spoke to afterwards to tell him how amazing the service was as it always is here was so nice as well.

We were so excited to try the food at bob evans. Seriously we were pumped.

I had no clue that we’d receive literally the worst service we have ever gotten by going there. We showed up and the place was pretty empty maybe 5 tables had people. We were put on a list and told there was a wait. When we were finally sat they tried to give our adult sized teenagers kids menus. Cool whatever quick correction and move on.

After being sat we ordered our drinks and proceeded to wait 10 minutes for them to come to the table, ordered our food and made sure to tell the server that we wanted our appetizer out first.

About 20 minutes later we didn’t have food, weren’t offered refills and still no appetizer. We waved the server over and asked about the appetizer and she told us that she forgot to put the order in for it but that it was okay because our food was almost done.

10 minutes later she came out with half of the food. 10 more minutes and she brought the rest of the food.

While the food was in fact plated beautifully it was also incredibly bland. Seriously bland. We were shocked.

We ate what we could and waited for the server to come check on us or at the very least offer us refills. That never happened. We had to wave her over again to ask for the check.

When we went to pay it took a solid 5 minutes for someone to come to the register

All in all we spent almost a hundred dollars for 5 people and everyone left unhappy and a little hungry still.
