Populuxe KC — Attraction in Kansas City

If you are a mid mod fan of any degree and you don't know Ray and Greg much less Populuxe then you have got a treat in store. There is simply nothing like this store or these two gentlemen anywhere in the U.S.. I know because I came all the way in from Colorado to shop there. My husband and I bought a mid mod house in Denver and found rather quickly that we weren't going to be able to find authentic pieces anywhere nearby. Friends from KC suggested Populuxe and lo and behold we furnished our entire house from there. Ray and Greg helped us every step of the way including packing up an entire moving truck of goods. Everything is curated, in great condition. The work is all done for you. Their knowledge and attention are as rare as the mid mod items they have for sale! Seriously, we furnished the big pieces for our dining room, living room, bedrooms and then added amazing finds for the kitchen from dishes to cookware to martini glasses and pitchers. What a find!! We happened to be going next door to the Brewer's Kitchen and when I looked in the window, I audibly gasped. This has to be one of the BEST, most well curated collections of MCM and vintage in the country. The furniture was incredibly well preserved and unique. The clothing was the stuff dreams are made of - and having been to shops in NYC and SF, this one has much better quality clothing and apparel. The glass was absolutely spectacular. Prices were fair and owner was willing to work with us, which is fantastic. Compared to the typical antique mall where you can have trash and treasure, this shop is all treasure. There isn't a garbage piece in the entire place. Again, prices are REASONABLE which on top of the quality makes this a MUST STOP. It didn't come up during our antique search and for good reason, this is a true vintage shop. Antiques are found here but it's styled and merchandised like a fancy step into the past. Best Retro Vintage Antique store in KC. Prices are so reasonable and all treasures are in mint condition to boot. Furniture, art pieces, kitchenware, radios, lucite, rugs, magazine racks, coasters, tables & chairs, if your looking for MCM or Retro this is the place to find great treasures. The staff was friendly and helpful, as a lucite magazine rack wasn't priced that I wanted to buy. They contacted the owner and he gave me a very reasonable price, so, of course, I bought it for my collection of lucite magazine racks. Also, found an orange digital 70's radio in mint condition and use it every day it took me years to find. Not very many shops like this with great MCM & Retro inventory.
