We booked a double queen room for two nights almost last minute, about a week out, through Booking.com. the rate was advertised as $301 after tax. When we checked in they confirmed our name and reservation, then asked for our "method of payment". When we swiped out card we were immediately charged $420. We assumed there would be a hold or deposit, but we were not expecting an additional $119. The desk lady was very nice explaining the deposit (although she mistakenly told us it was $20 per night, plus $50, as we found a sign later stating $30 per night), and that housekeeping no longer enters rooms while a guest is checked in so if we needed anything we could just call the desk. The room was very clean and very comfortable. There were an odd number of pillows on the beds (three each) but it didn't bother us. There was plenty of space for our 4 person family to stay comfortably for two nights. Plenty of towels through the room, hair dryer, and iron available. We used the pool which was comfortably heated (not to a warm temperature, but not frigid cold either, so it was refreshing). The breakfast was also impressive- offering many dietary alternatives. Gluten-free blueberry muffins, sugar-free pancake syrup, a number of different coffee creamers, turkey sausage, whole, 2%, and chocolate milks, low-calorie yogurt, variety of hot tea bags, ect. I loved the oatmeal bar! They had a large pot of heated prepared oatmeal (not instant packets) with many topping options including granola, raisins, craisins, coconut, dried apricot, and different types of sugar (raw, white, and sweetener). I could go in about the amazing breakfast. And I will say that the staff were actively refreshing the hot foods and such, nothing was being left cold or empty all the way up to the end (10am).
If I had to nit-pick, the large hold was unexpected (it did come back to us within 2 days). There was also a VERY bright spot light shining directly into our window. We were staying for Independence Day, and on the 3rd floor we were hoping to see some fireworks from our window, but having the curtains open only flooded us with blinding light. There was also a large bus right below our window that was beeping for a solid 6-7 minutes around 10:30pm. There was a lot of raid work in the area as well. Lastly, despite advising us that housekeeping would not enter our room unless explicitly requested, our last day staying (July 5th), we were sleeping in after a night of fireworks but around 9:30am I heard knocking at our door. At first I thought it was my spouse, because they had gone downstairs, however before I could get all the way out of bed the house keeper burst into our room. It was dark, so all I saw was a figure come in and exclaim "Oh no!! Sorry!!" Then they ran out of our room and shut the door behind them. It was confusing at first until I heard them knocking on the other doors through the hall, announcing they were housekeeping and toing a trolly full of towels with them.
Overall all the staff were very friendly. The stay was comfortable. I definitely recommend this hotel over some of the others in the same budget range In the area, and we would...
