I've never left a negative review, but I paid $87 for the Deva Curl Cut done by Ginger Bell and now I have a strange and uneven haircut.
Rushed-I was 7 minutes late to the appointment. My bad completely. But the haircut took all of 30 minutes, consultation and wash included. The rest of the time I spent under the dryer.
Rushed/absent consultation- There is a consultation+haircut price paid for first time Deva Curl cuts. I was interested in this bc I've been growing my hair out and was having a difficult time managing long curly hair. I expected a conversation about curl types, a routine that would work, options for cuts based on my hair etc. She said I was overthinking it and that just cutting it shorter would make it easier to manage. I was in between cutting it shorter or not, thought maybe a trim if she had tips for managing it. But she rushed into cutting with a seemingly vague idea of what I wanted. I thought this odd, but also thought with the great reviews and her years of experience that she probably would just give me a great cut that would be easy to manage and look great. Easy win-win. This did not happen.
The haircut/final conversation- I immediately wasn't a fan of the haircut after it had dried. It was too short on the sides and in the back, as well as on the crown of my head. I specifically mentioned not going to short and showed pictures. When I did the usual bad haircut dance where you awkwardly try to sugarcoat that you hate it, she said, "I think it's cute!" and didn't ask any questions to see what I actually thought. Plus what is there to do but wait for it to grow back anyway. After a week of playing with it and styling it different ways a few things are obvious- It's not what I asked for, it's uneven up front and in an area in the back, and I paid $97 w tip included for a bad haircut.
In hindsight, the overall experience was pushy, rushed, you get what you get and also please tip and buy some product...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreI had the same experience as another reviewer- Ginger was 20 minutes late and then not only did she not apologize but she was incredibly rude to me the entire time. I've never received such terrible service at a salon. She acted hung over or like she hates her job and wanted to take it out on someone. Everything she said had a condecending tone and was dripping with sarcasm. She straight up refused to give me the cut I came in for at first, and then changed her mind and did it anyway with a bad attitude. I'm not in high school, I don't understand why a grown woman needs to act like a teenage bully to a paying client. It was surreal.
The woman that did my pedicure also did my eyebrows... and while she was nicer, she didn't seem to be a trained esthetician. She didn't stretch the skin around my brows, she applied wax to the same places multiple times(!!), Didn't trim with scissors but actually pulled hairs out from the middle of my eyebrows. She had to do them twice, and didn't apply any cooling products afterwards. They turned out worse than when I do them myself.
The owner needs to pay attention to her staff and make sure people are getting a quality experience, it was obvious how rude Ginger was being and no one seemed to care. I'm absolutely not returning to this salon for any services, due to Ginger's rude personality and the fact that no other stylist or manager observing what was happening seemed to care. I didn't want to make a scene so I simply paid and left, but now I wish I had said something because I've been upset about it ever since. It was truly a...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreThis salon does not follow COVID regulations. Katie, my stylist, even had the audacity to tell me that someone not wearing a mask (with a mask mandate in place) is not illegal. Iām really not sure what she thinks MANDATE means. I ended up leaving the salon without my hair styled (still paid for the styling process, even though I didnāt receive it and when I have, itās never been good) because I was so disheartened and uncomfortable. A halfway-decent haircut is not worth waiting 30 minutes past your appointment time to start and being reduced to tears because I feel unsafe just being in the building- yāall really shouldnāt have a sign that instructs customers to wear a mask if youāre going to allow maskless customers to sit in your salon and talk about how theyāve had COVID in the last 90 days. Truly terrifying for immunocompromised customers. Will be reporting.
EDITED: after seeing their reply, I called Salon Halo multiple times to try to come to a resolution, only to find out that they blocked my phone number. My appointment was 01/14/2021 and I went into the salon on 01/16/2021 to have a conversation with Tiffany, the owner, about getting a refund or having my hair fixed. She refused to have a conversation with me and threatened to call the police on me- and said that this was because of my negative review. so their reply offering to fix my hair is BS. I also took a picture of their client not wearing a mask, which I have added here (covered her eyes so she cannot be identified)- so again, BS....
