West Park Preserve — Attraction in Katy

Really nice park, I love the fact that it is gated! Has nice areas for kids to play but also a lot of open spaces for balls,scooters etc. Some benches + tables, I wish they would have added more though. I believe dogs are allowed as long as they’re on a leash but remember there’s kids all over!

Pretty park but a bit sterile. We went around noon on a hot and sunny day in May. There is no shade or shade cover over the main playground section. Since the playground is on a cushy, artificial surface, the ground can't breathe and heat from the sun radiates up. It was a strange feeling to stand there in this artificial heat zone. Love this new park. I hope they will build the restroom there soon. The park has a lot of shade for the kids to play in nature. It's best to come before 10-10:30am, some areas still nice and shaded to play till noon, not the slides. Gym equipment is always in shade. Nice park to read book and quiet place...
