Move-In & First Impressions When we toured, we were helped by Rebecca (a temporary staff member), who was wonderful. We signed the lease with no problem and even recommended multiple families who also leased there. When we returned to get our keys, we found management had changed. That’s when we met Casey, the new manager. During our two-year stay, we never received complaints about us. However, what followed made our living experience extremely unsafe and stressful. Year 1 – Harassment & Safety Concerns A family moved in below us, and immediately we were subjected to repeated harassment: They beat on our door multiple times, yelling obscenities and threats because they said we walked to loud. The man cursed at me, threatened me when he thought my husband wasn’t home, and claimed our normal walking was “too loud”—even in the middle of the day. We had to call the police after one of these incidents. His girlfriend and her friend later came to our door, yelling and accusing us of “retaliating” by calling the police. We documented this with video proof and repeatedly reported it to Casey and Jessica. We were assured it would stop, but the harassment continued for months—pounding on the ceiling, yelling through the floor, and the couple also had late-night confrontations about going to clubs and money that could be heard through windows from the parking lot. Meanwhile, other serious issues occurred on the property: My car was burglarized, along with several others. A neighbor’s car had all four tires stolen, left sitting on bricks. The pool was constantly overrun by non-residents throwing parties until management started closing it early. *Group of rats in hallway of building one. The lack of safety and management’s inability to stop the harassment made Year 1 unbearable. Year 2 – Overcharges, Insults, & Missing Items We decided to move for safety reasons. Even after moving out, the problems only got worse: We were charged $400 for a fee, though our lease clearly stated $100. Jessica told me “it doesn’t matter what the lease says, I charge everyone $400.” After questioning this, Casey and Jessica suddenly claimed we caused thousands of dollars in damages. When I requested a final walkthrough upon move out, Jessica told me it wasn’t possible since contractors do it weeks after move out , but promised to call me so I could be present. She never did. I left the unit spotless and filmed everything for proof. Still, Jessica claimed untrue and outrageous things like “dead roaches covering walls,” despite me having videos showing clean walls. When I asked for photo evidence of dirty walls, she laughed and admitted they had none. I was shown over 90 photos of supposed damages that were not my unit. When I pointed this out and showed my video proof, Jessica dismissed it, saying, “photos are better than videos.” Both Casey and Jessica insulted me and my family multiple times when I questioned the charges. Casey even accused me of secretly letting another family live there—completely false and offensive. They refused to provide final statements or proof of charges for months. Jessica said her printer was broke so a final statements and photos couldn’t be printed upon my visit when I was in office. Yet, she printed other documents as I sat in the office and she handed me bills addressed to Cortland that never appeared on the portal to pay and she told me to bring the money to them. When Casey walked out, Jessica even whispered to me at one point: “I promise if I could change it, I would. It’s not me.” Yet she sat there with Casey actively lying and insulting me.
Post-Move Out – Ignored & Stonewalled For months, Casey and Jessica ignored my emails and calls. When I asked for Casey’s boss’s contact info, he refused to give me her email. I eventually tracked down Mindi’s email (Casey’s supervisor) through account services, but after one vague email asking what property I lived at, she also ignored me completely despite my follow-ups.
Over a year later, we are still battling...
Read moreBeware, I've been here 1 month and ready to leave. Walls paper thin, and my neighbors above me are loud as hell in building 100. I don't think they ever sleep, sounds like they are rolling on skates above my head. The lady on the third floor twice a week throws her mop water off the balcony, and one day landed on my head. I addressed it with her she still does it. The first day I moved in had tree roach come out the bathroom, I understand its Texas ,but I do not Do bugs. I now get my apartment sprayed bi- weekly. DO NOT move to a first floor apartment, the pool is swarming with uninvited pool guest who break into the pool at night. LAST WEEK SOMEONE STOLE MY PATIO FURNITURE AND THREW IT OVER THE GATE ! They used one chair to step on and bend the metal arm and threw the other chair over to sit in and drink wine. I then had to wait until maintenance came the next Moring. I then had go back and forth with him to let me get my furniture due to the pool usually being closed on Mondays and Tuesday all day for cleaning. These apartments look very nice and the front desk staff are nice especially Jermail and Jennifer. The other lady is very ditzy and seems like doesn't listen when you talk to her. My suggestion if you do move here don't move next to the pool or facing it, do not move to the first floor , do not move into building 100 or 200, and spray your own bug prevention when you first move in and keep an appointment with pest control cause obviously this was problem before i moved in. Not an infestation but again I don't do bugs 3 roaches to many for me! I'm mostly upset because I just want peace and quite and return home to Texas after traveling 3 months and my place at The Grand at LaCenterra Never had this many issues. we also got a one sentence email saying they were checking the fire alarms. Well its been three straight days 8-10 hours of blaring alarms, like horns above your bed blaring alarms making you jump out your sleep from9-10am in the Moring to 3to 5pm in the afternoon. Anyone with babies or work midnights like my Bf I feel bad for. Hopefully tomorrow there will be no more...
Read moreWe haven’t been here for five months. At first everything was great some of the staff are great at their job the maintenance are good at their job, doggie poopie bags were restocked the doggie park did not have any poop on the ground but after being here for almost five months is like the resident with dogs do not care at all they leave their dogs poop on the ground. The dog park is full of dog poop. Me and my spouse stopped taking them their. Every time we go we make sure to pick up after our dogs but sadly a couple people do not do the same. The elevator on building three.. I have two big dog and they are female so i supposed if they pee on the elevator/on the corner of the stairs/corner bottom of the stairs or anywhere on a wall or floor it would be a whole big mess not just a couple drops of pee so to get blamed or assume it was my dogs it’s just sad at this point.. Getting two complains of my dogs being on the balcony when the first time i took them out because i was cleaning it’s understandable but the second complain not sure from where is coming because i haven’t taken them out at the balcony since the first one so assuming with was my dog’s once again.. Sad. At this point my dogs are getting blamed for things they haven’t done specially on the elevator. This Apartment is supposed to be dog friendly and a clean place but we are getting sent email’s and reminders of complains of other things how about they send reminds of people picking up after their dogs/cleaning up after their dogs on the elevator and throwing away the trash on the shoot. This review is because they are assuming and complaining on the wrong person the front desk lady that lives in the same building started assuming because i took my dogs down the elevator and it was already pissed when we got in i’m not going to clean after another resident who does not care about their pet’s pissing all over. What they should do is place cameras on the elevators and the trash rooms and complain with the right residents instead of assuming and...
