I live in Hanalei and get up to the shopping center now and then. There is a very good Ace hardware store there- it has a very extensive inventory and sells individual screws and such. The Foodland is very fancy store compared to the Big Save in Hanalei Town. It is the biggest store on the North Shore- you have to go to Kapa'a to the Safeway to get better, which may explain the high prices. You need to get a rewards card as their prices are very high without it. Basically if you use the card you might get the same price as at the Big Save. And they have all the fancy, expensive stuff, which I don't much buy. They do have a good deli counter with 5 kinds of poke, all very fresh, plus sushi, plus the deli stuff, plus lunch plates. Produce is extensive but expensive, but then it is everywhere on Kaua'i.
