I've been in here 3 times and every time it's the same. The man working seems to really dislike his job at an art store directly across from a university. I say this because as a student I often have ask about materials recommendations or their location in the store. Never have I ever asked him a question and got a pleasant answer. I get talked down to, I get smart-alec answers, but I've not even received so much as a your welcome even after thanking him for his rudely doing his job. This is regardless of time of day or level of store traffic. Additionally even after stating I was there for a class, I was not offered a discount meanwhile the girl in line behind me was asked immediately if she was a student and was given a discount. I'm 37, so basically a dinosaur to be in school, I realize this, however after specifically saying my professor misspoke on what type of paper I needed, I should think it would at least warrant the question if I was a student. It would be nice to be able to walk across the street and buy needed last minute materials which is likely how they're still in business since it isn't the above and beyond service. I would also really like to support small businesses rather than Blick or Amazon, life is stressful enough though and I don't see myself spending my money at an establishment I'm made to feel like an idiot...
Read moreMy wife and I recently revisited All Media Art Supply Co. with our three children to reminisce about our time in the VCD program, where we met and frequented this store during our seven years there. My wife graduated with an illustration degree, and I completed my masters in design. All Media continues to be the same wonderful place it was back then, offering the best art and design supplies.
It's been over 15 years since we graduated, yet the owner, Brian, greeted us with a warm smile and asked how he could assist us. The positive atmosphere that we remember from our time in Kent is still alive and well at All Media. Brian has truly been a blessing to the art and design community with his dedication and passion for what he does.
We hope that many more students have the opportunity to experience the supportive environment as they embark on their journey of learning and growth in the field of art and design. Places like All Media remind us why supporting local businesses that contribute positively to the community is...
Read morePricey, yes, but art isn't cheap unless you're a "sculptor" working with items pulled from dumpsters. But All-Media is likely going to stock what you need, will definitely give you good advice about products, use, and where to get stuff they do not have (needed a piece of glass - they sent me to a fantastic source). So the service you receive is outstanding (they bag your paper, wrap things, etc.), students always receive a discount, and if you're in Kent, they're in Kent, and they are open pretty late. When you run out of something (and you will - it is inevitable), guess who is open? All-Media.
The 'net may be "open" all the time, but it's not delivering to you in the same day. (And there's the world's best pizza in the same plaza too, so how much better...
