Bourbon 🥃 & Botanicals 🌱 Review
We arrived right at 5:30 🕠 & they had plenty of parking 🅿️ up ⬆️ front. Entrance & Admittance was quick & they had a list to go by so ticket 🎟️ was unnecessary. By 6:30 🕡 the place was packed. The gift shop was open & a lot of beautiful things inside; be sure to check it out. As we walked down to the pavilion by choice (as there is a golf cart for those with disabilities), there is a concession where you can purchase snack, desert, or even a small dinner. A few very nice options too. We had the following: A. Southern Pecan & Peach 🍑 Chicken 🍗 Wrap. It was a good combination but I asked for no onions 🧅 & didn’t realize they put celery on it too so I had to do a lot of picking. B. Georgia smoked sausage dressed w/ brown mustard, Peppers & Onion is what the husband got & he LOVED it. These sold out so if you plan to try one, get it early. C. mixed berry 🍓+ peach 🍑 Shortcake. Be prepared for this one because it’s made northern style with a biscuit. I’m from the south & shortcake 🍰 is really important in this desert. A biscuit does not make it sweet at all. D. Pulled Pork was so delicious. Really enjoyed it! Along the path it is so gorgeous with all the plant life yet they do give you a tour of the botanicals if you want before the music 🎶 begins for the evening. Bourbon 🥃 is not free so don’t expect it yet prices are all very reasonable on drinks 🍺 We bought our water 💦 down by the music 🎼 as it’s cheaper & one of us has to drive 🚘 home 🏡 We bought the Old Fashion & Kentucky Mule & Summer Breeze. The Old Fashion was the best. The sponsor was our local Kentucky distillery & we really loved that. If you haven’t included them in your bourbon 🥃 tours then you’re missing out on something great. Bring your own chair or your buttox will ache. You can also bring your own cooler/bag with snacks & drinks YET please remember two very important things: 1. The cost of things help make these events possible so when you’re buying, you’re supporting. 2. Absolutely no alcoholic product can be brought on the property. You can purchase individual event date tickets or the whole summer package to enjoy. There were those that brought children so it can be a family outing evening for multiple families to meet up & enjoy together although not much on anything for the kids to do but listen 👂🏼& dance 💃🏻 & socialize. Now to the whole reason for the experience… The Sheryl Rouse Band! That woman can 🎤 sing! 🙌🏻 Not to mention the guitarist 🎸 just WoW! Oh & that drummer’s 🥁 smile… lord it’s a bright one! I give this night five 🖐🏻stars ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️& a solid ranking 10 out of 10 & would recommend for all my family,...
Read moreFor years I have said if I am going to get married in Kentucky, the only place I would want to get married is Yew Dell Botanical Gardens. One of the things I love the most is the aisle of trees in front of the event lawn. This last September, my dreams came true! Jill was wonderful to work with and so easy to coordinate everything. I had a wedding of around 150 people and got married on the event lawn, had my cocktail hour on the stone terrace, and my reception under the Mary F. Rounsavall Pavilion. Everything was gorgeous! I loved having the castle and cabin for me, my husband, and our bridal party to get ready in. I also loved having the whole Gardens to explore. Every inch of the Gardens are beautiful and made for endless photo opportunities with gorgeous backgrounds. All the locations used had the perfect amount of space! I especially loved how much room we had for dancing under the pavilion. It was so lovely to get married with a variety of seasonal plants and flowers surrounding us. I loved also being able to have a view of the barn during cocktail hour. I also loved the bourbon barrels that Yew Dell provided. I appreciated how easy and helpful the staff was at Yew Dell during all the coordination and the day off, it took a lot of stress off of me! They also made it easy to transport some of my guest that have mobility issues. There is nowhere else I would have wanted to spend one of the most important days of my life! I love being able to have pictures to look back on with the...
Read moreWe recently paid our first visit to Yew Del Botanical Gardens. It was Father's day and my did some research to find on outdoor place not far from home and ended up here. I had no idea it existed, but I don't get out this way very often.
The entry way is through the Tobacco barn, and it's a nifty way to enter such a unique place. The admission price is very reasonable ($9 for adults, and veterans (like myself) are free).
Walk through the Tobacco Barn / Gift Shop and there you are, surrounded by all kinds of colourful, natural beauty. We meandered through a large part of the Botanical Gardens in roughly and hour-and-a-half at a very relaxed pace.
I particularly liked the Castle Terrace, looking very medieval and stately shortly after you enter the Gardens. The Fairy Forest is a quaint little area with miniature fairy houses and a well-shaded area and plenty of places to sit.
The Pollinator Meadow has a nice, very visible, flat walking path that's a nice stroll on a Sunday afternoon.
Yew Dell is a nicely sized Botanical Garden. It's not so large that you feel like you're missing something, but comfortable enough to feel like you got to see it in all its natural splendor.
If you haven't been, I recommend it. It's a very pleasant visit to a quiet, relaxing outdoor experience...and who couldn't use...
