My Personal Experience at Kentucky Artisan Distillery – A Tour to Remember!
Sometimes, the hidden gems leave the most lasting impressions – and that’s exactly the case with Kentucky Artisan Distillery.
My tour through this small but impressive distillery wasn’t just informative; it was heartfelt, authentic, and truly unforgettable.
Right from the start, I was welcomed with a warm, family-like atmosphere. This isn’t a place designed for mass tourism or flashy marketing – it feels more like being invited by friends who are eager to share their life's work with you. Our tour guide was absolutely fantastic! With deep knowledge, passion, and a great sense of humor, he took us through the entire production process, explaining every step and letting us experience the spirit of this distillery up close. You could tell that he wasn’t just giving a tour – he lives and breathes whiskey!
One of the biggest highlights was, of course, learning about Jefferson’s Ocean. The idea that this bourbon ages while traveling across the world’s oceans is simply fascinating – and yes, you can taste the difference!
What makes this distillery so special is the attention to detail and the unwavering commitment to quality. There’s no mass production here, no soulless, factory-made whiskey – every drop is crafted with dedication and care.
I highly recommend this tour to every whiskey lover. Kentucky Artisan Distillery is a true hidden gem and absolutely worth the visit. Once you experience it, you’ll see the big distilleries in a whole new light.
Final Verdict: 10/10 – A tour full of heart, passion, and damn...

If you're after experiences, this is a great place to start. We had Bob guiding our tour and he was just so patient with all the curious questions we had about the bourbon history and process. The bourbon and whiskey tasting was such a delight where we were guided through how to taste a bourbon to how to choose your favorite. The knowledge we gained on this tour was more than combined 4 tours I've had before. In the end we decided to go for Ocean rye whiskey which is aged at the ocean after a few years on land. And if you're looking for something unique, this is where you should be at.
PS: There's a little speakeasy for tasting, find...
Read moreOn the spectrum of distilleries, this is one of the smallest in Kentucky that you are able to visit. Home of Jefferson's, Whisky Row, and High Spire this distillery started out as a contract distillery but has now transitioned into making these three brands exclusively. They pump out about 20 barrels of bourbon per week where as Jim Beam and co might produce upwards of 1000/day if my information serves me right.
Come and take a tour ($10) which lasts about an hour and includes the tasting or come just for the tasting ($9). I would say that tasting alone is not worth the price, so if you're going to make the short drive from Louisville, take the extra time to take the tour.
Overall a really fun experience, and much different than the...
