Walker Fabrics — Local services in Crestwood

Not sure I would use this store again....

I originally had a good feeling about this place, but after several different instances, I now think differently.

The initial email sent to them with pictures of my item that I wanted reupholstered was responded to quickly and I was able to get on their long waiting list. I inquired in December and was told that they couldn't start my item until end of April. I went ahead and paid my $100 deposit and picked out my fabric. I went with a fabric from their store. I was told an approximate date to drop my chair off. As the date got closer, I emailed Tiffany (the associate I had been corresponding with) to confirm drop off. She told me to drop off my chair in order for it to be started on April 18. My husband brought the chair over early that morning since it was such short notice. They had told me that it would take 4-6 weeks to have the item finished; not sure why such a long time frame considering it's a small chair. I emailed Tiffany just over 4 weeks later.....no response after 3 days....so I emailed the main email address for the store. I received a response from the owner, Tim, who said that my chair "was in the rotation to be started." It still hadn't been started after having it for 4 weeks?? I expressed my frustration and was responded with excuse after excuse. He told me that it would now take 6-8 weeks!

Two days later, I get an email saying my chair has been started. What a coincidence. They wanted to know whether they could go ahead with a repair and told me the additional cost. Our chair was done a few days later on Tuesday. Amazing how after 4 weeks, the chair got done within a 3 day period.

My husband went to pick up the chair today. The rest of the labor was due and the additional cost for the repair. Unbeknownst to us, they repaired another part of the chair without talking to us about cost first. Since they did not email us for permission, that portion of the bill was removed.

This store is run by some of the nicest people, they've made me a customer for life. Their customer service is top-notch. My wife and I went in to get some fabric to recover a few chairs. They have a fantastic selection of materials in-house and an unbelievable amount for order. They also have great bargain bins. After we made our selection they cut the fabric for us and gave a crash course in chair recovering, free of charge! We went back a few days later to get some materials for repairing our couch and again got great service and useful tips from another associate. I'll be back...

I selected fabric for two chairs I wanted reupholstered. I took the fabric in and learned I needed a couple more yards, ordered the fabric and delivered it to Walker. They did a lovely job on the chairs. Some things I learned through the process were; if you want to refinish any wood, remove the fabric around the wood and make your repairs prior to taking in. I wish I had told them to secure the arms on the chairs which would have been a simple glue job. So attention to these details and communication with their staff would have made this a...
