My friend and I spent a fun afternoon at the James White's Fort in Knoxville, Tennessee. There is plenty of free parking at this location. Admission is $10 per person unless you're a senior or military. The employee checking us in asked us many questions to determine what our fees should be. I think he was being either nosy or friendly. He didn't like that the both of us were originally from California. Visitors are allowed to wander on their own and open cabinets in the rooms, just be respectful. My favorite room was the upstairs bedroom. When we exited the Fort, the employee told us about two sets of Californian visitors who got into a fight and I asked did this just happen today? He responded no, this happened like 5 years ago. I am thinking why the heck is he talking about it like it just happened. Had a marvelous time. We spent around 1.5 hours here.

Read moreI regretfully cannot give a higher rating that 3 stars. It started when we walked in the door and were greeted by the employee asking where everyone was from, thats normal. Until he got to my wife who was not from TN or GA like the rest of us, we met in the Military. He told her to stop talking when he found out where she was raised. We are here in Knoxville for an extended time-frame and we were excited to see Knoxville's first house. As we were leaving there was another group leaving, while I didn't hear any of the interaction between them, I can only imagine the attitude of the employee had a part in their leaving.
Now, the house was really neat and set and decorated in the time-frame of when it was lived in by James White and family. If you are in Knoxville and can deal with the Bigotry of the employee taking money to view the house, go...
Read moreThe fort is well worth the stop. We got our pastport books here for all the house in the area. What I am marking down for is the guy in the visitor's center was rude. Im not sure if we just caught him on a bad day or what. He seemed mad that we stopped in and when his internet wasn't working to process card payments, I was like that's fine I had cash and that seemed to make him mad also. I tried to make my interaction while we happened to be there as brief as I could with him. But the fort itself like I said Well worth the stop and has a lot of history in a small area. Its interesting to see how the city had just kind of grown right around this. They do have parking which cost is including in your admission to...
