I hate to write this review because I used to like this antique mall, but feel its important to share my terrible experience today in hopes it won't happen to anyone in the future. I asked to make an offer or find out the best price for two items from a single dealer, and the worker (a blonde woman who unfortunately I believe to be the manager or owner based on the website/facebook page), didn't feel this would be appropriate and explained why. This is ALWAYS the norm at antique stores, flea markets, etc. She reached out to the dealer and didn't hear a response right away, so I offered to write my information and get a call later. While I started filling information out, she kept telling me she likely wouldn't hear back, the dealer wouldn't come down likely, etc., etc. I also asked if she could find out how old the items were and she LITERALLY said, "I don't have time to chit chat with dealers all day." Her repetitions and this rather odd statement made me look away and laugh - because what do you mean you don't have time to find out information for customers? Also, why are you continuing to tell me you will not hear back from her today? I am already writing my contact information down and have verified this is fine. After I look away and laughed, she sassily retorted, "okay, maybe she WON'T call me back," as though threatening that I wouldn't get a lower price because she did not like that I laughed. I literally said, "What?" because her unprofessional response was so unexpected (how is any customer supposed to react when an employee says they don't have "all day" to find out how old items are)? . She then had a bit of a tantrum at the cash register, where she purposefully allowed other customers and workers to hear that she did not like how I rolled my eyes at her (which I did not) and that I likely would not get a discount. She may have offered to continue to keep my contact info, but my ears were ringing because I was so shocked and uncomfortable. I walked out.
In a nutshell, this employee (who I hope is not a manager or owner), did not want to get in touch with the dealer, clearly felt it was silly I was asking for the best price or wanting to make an offer of 20% reduced, was outlandishly rude, and tried to embarrass me. They lost an $80-$100 sale for SOMEONE ELSE, because this rperson could not control herself.
I have never had such an experience at the Bearden Antique Mall or in Clinton (which has the best antiques in the area). I would recommend going to these locations, or anywhere else before the West End Antiques if customer service is...

From the moment you walk into West End Antique Mall, your eyes see so many beautiful things that it’s hard to know where to begin.
They have a wide variety of vintage items; everything from stunning and unique antique furniture, lovely art work, beautiful colored glass, a large selection of jewelry, home decor, collectibles, and great stuff for guys too. The price range is quite broad. Things for $5-$1000. Truly something for everyone.
Gina and Ginger were very nice and helpful. I spent a long while shopping and found some great buys. Look forward to going back again soon. I am in love with this...
Read moreThis is one of those run down buildings that the tenant is unwilling to improve. The individual who runs it is not helpful and wants a lot of money for items that are not worth it. There are some serious health and safety issues with the building, missing floor tiles, metal carpet edging coming up, both of which can cause someone to trip and possibly get cut and injured.
Edit: this business has now relocated to a nicer building. BUT, the owner is still the same. Discourteous, and somewhat rude. And instead of trying to improve she stalks people on Facebook that write reviews. Very unprofessional and...
