The pictures are lovely and make the newly “renovated” motel look spacious and welcoming. However, my husband and I had quite a different experience. For what we paid for three nights over Memorial Day weekend, we could have bought an international airplane ticket. $244/night plus the pet fee is fine, but not for the quality I got. My biggest issue is when we called to report another guest threatening us and our dog, we were told only to file a police report “if we feel threatened.” There was no offer to try and talk to the offending guests. I have the friendliest dog in the world and we abided by all pet policies. A guest beside us walked outside at the same time we did and said “I’ll punch you and the dog in the teeth if he bites me.” The dog’s leash never tightened and he didn’t approach the man. We called the help line provided and was told to make a police report and got no offer to speak to the guests. If I owned the property, I would have made some attempt to assuage the situation so that a review like this would never reach Google. I won’t return. Security: I DID NOT feel safe. We were threatened and the staff made no attempt to talk to the offending guests. The security chain could be removed by hand on the back of the door, so there was no backup security if someone tried to bust down the door. The owners said that maintenance “was called,” but the issue was never fixed. Beds-okay, but I woke up with a sore hip everyday because they were a bit stiff. Per-friendly- great option for families with pets. Spaces for dogs to relieve themselves and LVP floors for any accidents. Location- AWESOME!!! Checkin and staff: Super easy self check-in, but at the expense of no one on the property. You have to text or call for problems. Someone parked in our spot, so we had to call. We got a super fast response and the issue was resolved when we returned. Amenities and room: not as spacious as the pictures imply. Bed was a little stiff. It really bothered me that the security chain was so loose that the screws popped out of the wall. I also had to arm wrestle the shower handle to get it to turn on, and the bathroom doorknob was holding on by a thread. I called the helpline and they said that maintenance was called, but the problems were never fixed. The body wash bottle was empty as well.

My wife and stayed here one night for our anniversary. I’ve stayed in a lot of hotels in my day but never in one that refuses to let you check in early…I’m talking 15 minutes early. We were allowed to sit OUTSIDE the room but not allowed access to it. Once we got inside, at a glance the room wasn’t bad…especially for one night. Within 10 minutes of being in the room a breaker tripped and we lost power to half the room. Once we overcame that minor hurdle, we started to get ready for dinner which led us to the shower to get cleaned up. The shower head was janky and barely fixed to the wall. The curtain didn’t keep water inside the shower (take not of the towels on the floor near the shower). The towels were the only way to keep from flooding the bathroom. Before anyone reading this says that all we had to do was close the shower curtain. I wanna make it known that while I was showering my wife was holding the curtain closed and it was doing no good. As I was brushing my teeth, I noticed a small smudge of a red liquid on the wall by the sink that appears to be blood and small smudge of the same stuff on the shower curtain. Also, you’ll notice the bathroom vent has a beard. That’s nice. I’m not one for dramatics and I could not care less about making somebody look or sound bad. However, call me old-fashioned, I actually read reviews before I stay somewhere. I wanna know what I’m getting into before I get there. I understand that some people make reviews while they’re good and mad, and share their jaded opinion. I honestly couldn’t care less about making this hotel seem better, worse, about fixing this situation or getting anything in return. I simply wanted to give an honest review to show people exactly what they might be getting into if they decide to get a room here.

We will be back! Room and entire building was clean and staff were super attentive and friendly. Our key focus was finding a place that welcomes dogs. I have a puppy I am working with to be a therapy dog. (Many owners have been accustomed to lying and labeling thier dog a therepy animal to get into accomodations; and we refuse to ever step that level as it dilutes the importance of such to those who genuinely need them.) Seabirds is build around being dog friendly. There is a great little dog run outside that is nicely built and clean. Kure restricts dogs on the beach between 9am-5pm during the summer but head down to Ft Fisher State Park. If you have have a 4WD capable vehicle, your can drive out on the beach! Location of Seabirds is prime. Walk to the pier, a little general store next door, restraints and bars. This is a HUGE benefit because parking is difficult down that way during summer months. Another plus is self check-in and out. No need to waste your vacation time dealing with long check-in lines and check out logistics. We had a great time all around! Thank you all at Seabirds and the staff for making this a great stay!
