My puppy Mr. Troika had an insanely wonderful time here this afternoon-- that is why the high rating. He couldn't stop smiling and running free in the water.
My only issue though is the gate entrance is extremely inconvenient and the ledge is very narrow for large breed dogs like mine. Also the gate is extremely high meaning my dog had to jump about 4 feet down to reach the sand below the entry gate. Someone should add more sand so that the dogs don't have to leap down so far especially for older dogs with joint issues.
The dog shampoo bath station is a wonderful convenience and I made use of it this afternoon. However my dog was able to leap over the barrier with his collar still attached to the hook because the hook is way too close to the edge of the bathtub. My dog 🐕 was afraid of the noises from the blow dryer and leaped over the barrier. A really nice young man saved my dog by grabbing him and unlatching the collar from the hook. The tub might be problematic for huge dogs who are nervous.
We had a great time ....highly recommend! Just be cautious entering the beach because the ledge is really high...

This beach is mainly for dogs who can swim and play fetch into the water. The small size of the beach is perfect. This is a dog beach more geared towards playing fetch and not to just run around. My advice is that if you want to relax and hang out with your dog at the beach, go to Montrose. You find mostly local residents with their water loving dogs at this park, which makes it a nice environment...
Read moreA nice place to bring your dog right on the harbor. It's a bit small, can be crowded, and there are no separate areas for large and small dogs. It really depends on what sort of environment your dog is looking for - there are larger and nicer places around, but the setting makes it unique, especially if your dog likes water. Unfortunately for the past few years, the City has not replenished the sand and it's near impossible to get down to the beach from the path without climbing down what's left...
