Wake N Bakery — Restaurant in Lake View Township

Went drove from the north west side to try out some edibles on a Sunday. The line was extremely long but it was probably because of the chai latte that had gone viral on Twitter a couple days prior. I started out in line by the Jewel and it took a little over 1.5 hours to get to the front door. Staff was super friendly and patient while I ordered since it was my first time there and I wasn’t well aquatinted with the menu. I ordered a dirty iced chai latte with 90mg of THC added. Since I weigh around 200 lbs it usually takes about 30 mg of THC or more for me to feel some type of high. I drank the whole thing within 30 minutes and after 2.5 hours I barely felt a slight buzz. Once that buzz went away I ate a whole bag of the gummy edibles. The barista said that the bags were 50mg each; the first bag had gummy bears and sour patch kids. After 1.5 hours I was zooted. I was a upset that the $10 bag of gummies worked better than my $20 dollar latte, but at last I was actually high. I had another bag of gummies I was excited about, so I ate the whole bag of lip shape gummies the next day and expected the same result as the bag from yesterday but absolutely NOTHING happened. Not even a buzz. I’m not a heavy smoker and I do not smoke everyday so I don’t understand why the edibles did not hit. I’m disappointed in the inconsistency of the product. They've also got an assortment of pastries, muffins, and cookies that are just as delicious. And, the best part? Everything is made in-house, so you're always guaranteed fresh, flavorful treats.

The staff at Wake N Bakery are super chill and always happy to help. You’ll feel more like a guest at a friend’s house than a customer at a coffee shop, adding to the overall warm and relaxed atmosphere.

Okay I’m giving this place a 5/5 because the following was COMPLETELY my fault.

So a friend and I went on a Sunday morning, no line, no waiting so that was great. Customer service was legit on point. Everyone is like either high or super kind, or both. Anyway, I don’t smoke much, nor does my friend. She gets a 10mg cookie, I ignore the mg and get the chocolate cookie that’s 50-75mg. Still ignoring the very CLEAR 50-75mg indication, I proceed with eating half of the cookie. 30 mins later, nothing. So I eat another 1/4 of the cookie… When I tell you I saw Jesus, the Devil and Whitney Houston all in one place. I could barely move my legs. The body high was felt. At one point I looked at my friend and wondered why the sidewalk turned into a mile, when it never did. Thankfully I was close to home when the panic set in. Between dancing, my friends faces turning into animals, wanting to go to the hospital because my heart was bleeding and meditating, I’d say I did okay. I closed my eyes and apparently saw art, Picasso’s I yelled to my friends. I definitely put myself to bed thereafter… slept a good six hours and woke up at 7pm that Sunday still high as a kite.

So, again, 5/5. Loved the service, the selections. Just be mindful, unlike me, of what your body can handle or you’ll end up rocking back and forth in your closet somewhere in a...
