Goodkind Tattoo - Chicago — Attraction in Lake View Township

Rob is the fourth artist I've been to & hands down the best. I've admired his work for about 7 years and his style has developed in leaps and bounds since then while maintaining his immediately recognizable flair.

The shop just got a new window sign which it sorely needed. I drove & walked right past the shop on my first visit. It shouldn't be a problem for new clients now.

I appreciate the cleanliness of the shop & his technique for set up. He'll leave you with a print-out for first timers that walks you through the stages of tattoo healing. He offered proper soap & tattoo aftercare which outrageously I had not received from previous shops. He's super chill & answers questions in person & any time you need to phone in. He has his bases covered.

Rob was collaborative during the first color session and discussed with me what he & I had in mind & we came to an agreement. Even if you give him free creative reign, you will not be disappointed. He checked in throughout the session, takes breaks as needed, & always has an excellent playlist on.

My only complaint is the wait time between available appointments which ranges between 1-3 months. It's a testament to his quality of work & high demand, so call ahead & get in while you can. I also highly encourage tipping this dude. :)

I had thought a long time about getting my first tattoo and after moving to Chicago I asked around a lot before deciding to go with Kelly at Goodkind. I was easily scheduled for a consultation and Kelly was able to use the picture I provided to show me how it might look on my arm (using a fancy tablet program I don't understand). My work schedule was very irregular at that time so Kelley was patient when working with both of our schedules. (If you have a bit of a wait to get it, it's worth it). I required two sessions and I appreciated knowing that up front, along with deposit prices. At both appointments, everyone in the shop was friendly and everything was exceptionally clean. The tattoo I wanted was not in Kelly's typical style, but he worked SO HARD on getting all the little details perfectly right. (Also, I am a bit of a chatterbox and he very patiently dealt with my incessant conversation). He gave me very clear instructions for care of the new tattoo and was able to get me in for my second session in a very reasonable time. I have been returning to Goodkind tattoo for 11 years now; from Kansas, the old location, now the new location a few times even. I have completed an entire calf & back piece with Rob. He has a very distinct style & I love everything this man has tattooed on me. Everywhere I go, I get consistent compliments. I recently had my inner thigh tattooed by Tim on whim. In my defense, he drew up the most perfect frog & I’m getting limited on space. Who am I to resist though? If you have to get such a sensitive spot tattooed, I would totally recommend him. Tim offered me a pillow, made sure I was comfy, & gave me a perfect tattoo. I have also been tattooed by Dottie several times through out the years, she’s funny, a very talented artist, & accommodating. I even let her tattoo my knee & she made it a good experience somehow. Dottie started a cover up/back piece for my husband this week & it is gorgeous! I can only assume that everyone that works here is also amazing! 10/10 would...
