I’m very happy with my switch to this gym! Rockwell Barbell is designed for weightlifting and has a lot of great equipment for any lift you would want to do. While I mainly use a standard barbell, this gym has access to many different bars such as the football bar, safety squat bars, transformer bars, camber bars and a lot more I wouldn’t know how to use. There are several benches, squat racks, and dead list platforms, so it is not an issue to get on equipment and take your time on the equipment. They also have a lot of machines, so I have been able to perform all auxiliary lifts I have wanted to do at this gym and have even been inspired to add more based on what’s available. Additionally, the gym members and staff I have interacted with have all been very friendly, giving a community feel.
Their training staff is really good and is technique focused. I have been taking sessions with Pat which I recommend to any lifter that wants to increase strength or technique. He is almost academic in his delivery, focusing on the latest science for technique and progression in your program. My squat, bench, and deadlift form have improved significantly from my time with Pat. I feel way more confident moving up in weight without injury risk from...
Read moreSo happy I found this gym. I'm in town for a few weeks periodically and need somewhere to drop in. Everyone at the front desk was friendly and helpful. Was able to work out that day after a bit of paperwork.
They have a ton of gear including a really nice IWF rated oly bar which was perfect for what I've been working on lately. There is just one station where oly lifts can be done with bumpers, but they do have one. No problems getting a squat rack or finding space to do dumbell rows, etc. Open space for mobility work is a little hard to come by. In regards to mobility work they did have all the balls, bands, foam rollers, etc you'd expect.
Music was at conversation volume which I massively appreciate. Whatever is playing may not be your thing, but easy to ignore or drown out with headphones as reasonable levels.
Good mix of people. Everyone was polite, aware of themselves in the space, while being in their own head space getting their work done. Easy to be comfortable.
This gym is definitely geared towards intermediate and up lifters. However beginners will have no problem with a bit of communication. Asking for a quick tour and some pointers on local gym etiquette would be all you need to have a...
Read moreI joined this gym with some prior weightlifting experience but nothing serious. I did personal training with Kevin and my goal was to improve my technique and learn a wider range of exercises.
My experience at the gym was absolutely fantastic. The gym itself has a lot of quality equipment (combo racks, platforms, machines, etc.) that is properly maintained. There is also a massive selection of bars and cable attachments to add variety/specificity to your workouts if you want. I primarily went between 5-7pm and rarely, if ever, had to wait for a piece of equipment.
I would also highly recommend Kevin as a personal trainer. He tailored our sessions to be specific to my goals and after working with him, I am much more confident in my technique. I also have many more exercises in my "back pocket" and I'm able to apply what I've learned to any other gym I go to.
The only reason I don't go to this gym anymore is because I moved away, and even then, I still think about coming back despite how long it would take to get there and back. I would highly recommend this gym for people of all skill levels (even total beginners) that are interested in lifting weights - you...
