Biiiig farmers market girl right here! And I’m so grateful that my sweet town of Lakeland has an awesome and thriving downtown market every Saturday!
I have been going for years now, and it’s pretty much the only place I buy my fruits and vegetables because they have the BEST and freshest produce, especially when compared to a lot of grocery stores.
A rule I have about fruit is, the bigger it is, the better it tastes. And the produce stands here have softball sized (not even joking) apples, peppers, peaches and more. The strawberries are golf ball sized or bigger, and the blueberries can be dollar coin sized. In this case, I truly believe that bigger is better and size matters.
But there is far more beyond the lovely produce available. It’s small business haven here, and the market is a really big one considering Lakeland isn’t a big city compared to its nearby counterparts (aka Tampa, Orlando, etc). So, there’s a huge and random variety of products and services to be found.
Some of the best boba I have ever had is made locally and sold here by Lakeland’s own MK Boba. There are plants galore, food trucks with so many ethnic food options, pet gear, knitted and sewed stuffed animals and clothing, homemade candles, wind chimes, and that’s all literally just breaking the surface.
Plus, downtown Lakeland is already the cutest area and a pleasurable walk around, so having the market just elevates the good vibes. If you need me on a Saturday morning I’m most likely...

There are different types of booths spaced out on both sides of the road .Most booths are very different from one another so you won't get bored looking at the same items. I really thought it was cool how some of the items for sale was created by the person running the booth. Also there is different culture food booths for your convenience if you get hungry while you're shopping. I seen a few people playing different types of music throughout the day for entertainment. I even seen a few alcohol beverage booths if you decide you want to shake things up bit. You don't have to be worried about being crowded because everything is spaced out nicely. Plenty of room to shop and look around. I don't know anything about the restroom situation so that is something you'd have to find out for yourself on your visit. If you enjoy these types of outings with your family, then the downtown flea market in Lakeland is something you might want to check out. It's open every Saturday from 8a.m to 2p.m and located on N....
Read moreFollowing various post on the attractions at Lakeland, Fl, we decided to visit the Farmers market which meets on a Saturday between 8am-2pm at 200 North Kentucky Avenue, Lakeland. Its approximately a 25 minute easy drive on the I4 from Solana resort. The market displays produce from local growers and artisans, with a great selection of fresh produce (much being organic), plants and local handcrafted items, with about 40 stores displying when we visited in early December 2014. I purchased a homemade non-tomato base salsa in a 16oz pot from sassygirlssalsa made from a selection of different beans (black, pinto, black eyed) peppers, onions, celery, corn and chilli peppers. I went for the hot version; I loved it.
There was also an opportunity to taste various types of local unprocessed honey from Red roof farms. I opted for the wild flower honey, which is great on its own, or my favourite is on hot oatmeal for breakfast.
Well...
