Firehouse Subs Belmar — Restaurant in Lakewood

Would give one star if the food wasn't good. I walked in and the manager greeted me which was nice. The girl who took my order though, was less than enthused, and I honestly couldn't hear a word she said to me. Ordering was extremely difficult because of her service. I even asked her to speak up, which did nothing. She was literally just mouthing words, it was so strange. She eventually pointed to the pin pad, which I said could I please order drinks, which in response she rolled her eyes. I was astounded by her overall rudeness. Since she never asked me whether I was dining in (I had my 2 kids) my food was given to me in an extra large to go bag. I could hardly get this thing in the trash can, since I was dining in. I ended up talking to the manager about all this, although he kind of sarcastically wished me a happy holidays on my way out. Sure, thanks buddy. I felt bad for the guy who made my sandwich, because I didn't tip, but why would I when the service is so bad? Most likely won't be coming back. I have the worst luck at this store. I haven't been here in years because of my previous experience. Driving by today, 03/22/25, I thought a meatball sub sounded good. I ordered med on wheat with black olives. I received med on wheat without Italian seasoning. How does that sound anywhere near the same? I give up. Deducted another star.

Sadly I have to give this location a 4 star rating today. Usually great food but one of my items was a hook and ladder salad which comes with ham and turkey. Drove 6 miles home with the family dinner and there's NO MEAT at all on the salad. I drive back 6 miles and approach the counter, explain the issue and the kid behind the counter tells me "Well, we can put it on there if you want ". Of course I want it. I paid for it! No apology, no sorry for the inconvenience, no sorry about your double drive. Surely there's some type of guide for assembling these items. I understand mistakes happen, but make it right...

My husband and I have never tried this place even though we have driven past a few of the sub shops, we either didn't have money or we were on our way to somewhere else. Today we got the t mobile Tuesday app that offered free subs with purchase and we decided to try you out!!

So glad that we did, it puts subway and Jimmy John's to shame so be proud of yourselves!!

The bread is not crusty or hard like subway, your meats are cooked to melt in your mouth, and I had your Mac and cheese and hubby had the chili, both were fantastic!!

The ONLY thing that I would say maybe coach your team on is how they greet their customers, it has the lack luster of really liking their job. Hubby and I work in the pizza industry and we understand that it's hard to want to stay positive on most days but it keeps the customers coming back if they are treated like you want their business...
