Read moreAwful. came in looking for an S-Video cable for the SNES, both the people behind the counter had no clue what I was even talking about, lady looked like a deer in headlights and was bewildered that S-Video wasn't the "yellow red white" cable as she called it (It's RCA, by the way.) Didn't even try to look to see if they had it and gave a carefree and effortless response so she could get back to watching her kid play a game, last time I'll be in.
More interestingly however, was the pricing on just about anything. Popular games are basically 40% more expensive than they are anywhere else and the best part is no refunds, but store credit! Hooray! If your game doesn't work you can buy other games that presumably don't work because they don't test them! Even on eBay you can get your money back if something doesn't work, and you pay way less so it's arguably worth the wait, pathetic.
My biggest gripe is games that aren't that popular and in shoddy condition, STILL overpriced and more than you'd pay anywhere else, CD based games that are all scratched up with no manual? They just eBay the price of one in proper condition with the manual, throw $5-10 extra on it and call it a day.
It's just a waste of time even being in there, it always feels awkward when they ask "Can I help you?" a dozen times, gawking at you for a good 5-10 minutes after you've explained you're just looking. Stick to online shopping or even The Exchange if you really want something fast and don't mind paying more, not worth the hassle or supporting a business with such bad practices and employees who are not only clueless on numerous products and topics, but...
Read moreI have never had a more awkward experience in a game store than this. I like to collect rare an collectable games and when I asked about the rarities near the back of the store the son who was working told me they were from his Father's collection, who owns the store as well, and they were more to bring in customers rather than sell; but if someone wanted to pay their asking price they could. On top of that, those games could only be paid for in cash or using paypal with the friends and family option selected. This also means tax evasion on higher end items and if you pay this way using paypal you are not protected as a customer if it does not work, even with a store receipt you can be refused a refund.
I decided to ask on the price and the shop runner looked it up on ebay, because that's a great way to run a business. If I wanted ebay prices I could just go to ebay from home. He quoted me $360 for the game I wanted and I said, I could do $300 right now in cash and he immediately refused and felt the need to remind me he could sell this easily right now on ebay for $360, (but he won't because these games aren't really for sell, but they are.) I was completely baffled by this store's business model. I would only recommend this place if you are just wanting to find the mundane stuff that you can at Gamestop, but I would avoid this place if you are planning a trip from...
