When we first went in to the store, we were greeted by Patrick. We went around visually shopping for furniture for our brand new home.
After trying out several pieces of furniture for each of our rooms and deciding on color, we had to track Patrick down to get a price quote.
He gave us a scratched out paper of figures and pieces that we really couldn't comprehend. Plus, we told him that we needed to finish up some paperwork on our new home before we purchased the furniture.
Patrick got a bit upset saying that he spent over 2 hours with us and didnt know why we weren't closing a purchase that day.
We just left and finished the next few days on the house.
We came back and Patrick was not available, so we spoke with Deborah. She said that she was an interior decorator and that she would take care of us.
After we finally got our furniture picked out and the colors decided upon, Deborah began the computer work.
We opted for the 90 days same as cash. She kept reminding us to have it paid off within the 90 days. We put a 50% down payment on the furniture.
While doing the computer work, Deborah sent me the email Docusign and just said to sign it. She did not go over anything at all and did not explain anything. All she kept saying was, get it paid before the 90 days so that we dont get slammed with astronomical interest.
We decided on a delivery and setup date and had it scheduled for after our pre-arranged vacation out of the country.
When we came back, we checked on the status of our furniture delivery. We found out that it had been canceled because someone said that we called to cancel it.
The date that the cancelation supposedly had occurred was the same date that we were in Mexico. We do not use our International rates on our phones, nor do we even have them eligible for calls during our vacations.
After we insisted that they keep our prearranged delivery date, Deborah began arguing with us saying that we would not get our furniture when we wanted it. Then they finally agreed to have it delivered on our original delivery date. We told them that someone was lying to them about the cancelation.
Later, we came in and made another large payment on the balance leaving about 25% of the balance to be paid within the remaining 90 days.
A couple of weeks later, we get an email saying that an automatic deduction of $*. will be taken out of our account. We were scratching our heads about that because we didnt remember being told about any weekly payments. Just that we had to pay the balance within 90 days to avoid the high interest rates.
I looked at our contract and did see where it had mentioned the weekly payments, however, none of the contract was explained to us at the time of signing.
Deborah was making several mistakes during the contract and furniture setup. She had to start over a couple of times and even correct some of the furniture that we wanted.
We did get our payments completed prior to the 90 days, however, we were not pleased at all with the poor salesmanship.
We didnt appreciate being mislead regarding our delivery or the payment process.
We are pleased with our furniture but we will never shop at JR Furniture ever again. The experience was not a pleasant one after all was...
Read moreWe placed an order for our furniture and our sales lady ordered the wrong dinning set. But we didn't know it. The paper we signed had model numbers and no description. We had to pick up all the furniture ourselves by Uhaul because they won't deliver on post (Military Base). We were leaving that night out of town so we hired someone to put the furniture together for us. When we got back we noticed it was the wrong furniture. We called JR and they asked if we had the boxes etc. So we explained to them that the person who put it all together took the garbage with them. JR told us we would have to bring furniture back unhamred for an exchange because the won't come on base for pick up. So, it was going to be out of our pocket to fix their mistake. We also found out that another piece was a floor model and not new. They said it showed them having one in stock which was the floor model and that is what we order. We resorted to calling the finance company and they were upset about how we were being treated so they called JR directly and talked with them. JR still refused to rectify the situation so the finance company JR uses took responsibility and gave us credit etc. for all the trouble. We actually went back to get a coffee table because we needed one and were told that the remaining credit could be used. So we went back and saw the coffee table we wanted and it had a sign saying in stock. We told the salesman we wanted to use our remaining balance so he looked up our info. There seemed to be an issue so he called the finance company and seemed to get it all worked out. Turns out he, on his own accord, opened a whole new account. Turns out you can't use any remaining credit. This was an ABSOLUTE horrible experience and EXTREMELY poor customer service. They are out for a quick sale and do not care how it's achieved. And like others have mentioned, it takes forever to receive your furniture even if it has a sign that says IN STOCK. Save yourself the stress and hassle and go somewhere else.
In response to your reply JR Furniture: Suposedly the store manager was notified of the situation. She called and told us that unless we paid for another UHAUL and took it upon ourselves to get the furniture (that had already been paid to be put together) to your store undamaged they could switch it out. So we would have been out over $300. The Finance company (American Finance) also called the manager directly and American Finance said your store refused to assist in the matter which is why American Finance took it upon themselves to at least do what they could to make the situation a little better. No customer should be treated this...
Read moreIf I could give a zero star rating, I would. This occurred in 2016: The sales rep told us the mattress we wanted was on site and would ship from the store. Also, we were informed that we had 30 days to return the mattress for a full refund if unsatisfied. My significant other and I placed the order and selected a date and time for delivery.
After conducting additional research, as well as uncovering BBB and Consumer Affairs reports, we found out the mattress we ordered was not of the quality and standard the sales rep lead us to believe. In addition, we found out that JR Furniture has a history of placing every order as specialty orders, even for allegedly on site items, and specialty orders cannot be refunded or canceled.
We contacted JR Furniture customer service over the phone and they informed us our order was placed as a specialty order, that no products are available at the store, and the order could not be canceled or refunded. Also, all orders, even for products displayed in the store, are processed as specialty orders. As for our order, it hadn't been processed yet and the projected delivery date was 10 to 14 days past our scheduled date.
We returned to the JR Furniture store and confronted the manager about our order. A tense discussion took place with the manager initially claiming the product was on hand and available for pick up. When we divulged what customer service informed us, she initially said they were mistaken, which then changed to our order was already processed and shipped, which then changed to confirming everything customer service told us as well as admitting that the sales rep intentionally lied to us. She doubled down on saying refunds are not possible but we could swap for another product they had on hand in store. When asked if other products were actually on hand, she said yes, but changed the answer to no upon being pressed further about it.
We issued a demand for order cancelation and a full refund. The manager said it was not possible. We informed her if she did not give us a refund, then our encounter with her would go on YouTube (as we signaled to the camera recording her). Upon realizing she was being recorded the whole time, she immediately canceled and refunded our order as well as apologized for the ordeal as long as we did not return to the store.
Stay away from JR Furniture. If you do go there, then Record Any and All...
