I'm incredibly disappointed and disheartened by the way PetSmart has handled the recent termination of our trainer, Zee. My miniature schnauzer, Circe, has been training with Zee since our very first beginner class. We've gone through beginner, intermediate, and are currently halfway through the advanced class--all under Zee's guidance. Her knowledge, patience, and dedication have made a lasting difference in Circe's training journey.
Yesterday, I received a rushed, impersonal phone call informing me that Zee had been let go and that her classes were canceled effective immediately. I was told I could get a refund or switch to another trainer--but no explanation, no context, just a brush-off. This call came the day before our scheduled class.
What makes this even worse is that Zee wasn't the one to inform her clients, it was some rando on the phone that seemed annoyed to make these calls. From the discussions I have had with Zee in the past while trying to find days to make up for missed classes, I was fully aware that she had a full schedule, and openings were hard to come by. Based off of that knowledge, I feel like she should have at least been given the professional courtesy of finishing the classes she had committed to--despite clearly going above and beyond, working overtime and managing multiple classes simultaneously.
This is not just poor communication--it's unethical. Firing a trainer mid-course, without transparency or consideration for the animals and clients involved, shows a complete disregard for the relationships we've built and the progress we've made. Zee is an incredible trainer, and the way she was treated was not only unjust, but deeply unprofessional.
PetSmart, your trainers are the heart of your dog training program. If this is how you treat the ones who go above and beyond for their clients, I have serious concerns about continuing any services with your organization. I sincerely hope you take this feedback seriously and reflect on how you handle your staff and the customers who depend on them.
So, not only will I never return to this location, but I will also not recommend anyone else to go here. They don't care about you, your trust, or your trust with your trainer, they only care about the money. Zee deserves better and so do...
Read moreVery unprofessional experience at the Lakewood, WA PetSmart. I’ve had repeated issues with the grooming department and Banfield vet services here, but what pushed me to finally leave this review is learning that my favorite trainer, Zee, was let go. If you’ve ever worked with Zee, you know she went above and beyond—always staying late to answer questions and making the dog training experience enjoyable and effective. She genuinely cared about each dog and their progress. Letting her go was a huge mistake.
I trained my other dog, Copper, through both the Puppy and Intermediate classes with Zee, and the results speak for themselves. I still get compliments on how well trained he is, and it’s all thanks to her patience, consistency, and dedication. Zee was the best part of this location.
The grooming department has also been a disappointment. I arrived 10 minutes early for my appointment, as instructed, but the groomer didn’t show up until 10 minutes after the scheduled time. I had planned my workday around that appointment and had a meeting shortly afterward, so I couldn’t wait any longer and had to leave without getting my dog groomed. I emailed PetSmart corporate, and while someone from customer service eventually reached out, their attempt to “make it right” was half-hearted at best—and they never followed up after the initial contact. The lack of professionalism and follow-through was incredibly frustrating.
The Banfield vet clinic isn’t much better. It takes forever just to get checked in, and then they rush you through the appointment like you’re just a number. It’s impersonal, disorganized, and not what I expect from a place that’s supposed to care about animals.
Today, my scheduled training class was canceled just one hour before it was set to begin. The woman who called sounded annoyed and simply said, “We need to reschedule and will reach out later.” No apology.
This store consistently fails to provide basic customer service and shows a serious lack of professionalism. Letting Zee go was the final straw. I won’t be returning, and I wouldn’t recommend this location to anyone who truly cares about their...
Read moreAs far Petsmart goes, I like it a lot and their service is great. I love all my experiences with Banfield, their staff is very knowledgable and very friendly and helpful.
As far as Grooming goes. I will never take any of my dogs there again. Every time I have gone there I ask them to cut my dogs' hair a certain way and I tell them how long I want it and they never get it. Also if I drop my dog off early in the morning I have to continuously call and see if it is done because they wont call until late in the evening and they make them sit in a cage all day long and they wont walk them to let the dogs relieve themselves. Also when I get to the groomers and explain that the cut they did is not what I wanted they tell me that the groomer that cut my dog's hair isn't available and I can set up an appointment to have their hair fixed. They also don't have very good record keeping. I've had to bring the same rabie's certificate in the past 4 times I've gone in. And they are always making mistakes on appointment times. I called and scheduled an appointment at 10 a.m. this morning and they had me written down for a 7 a.m. appointment. They said, "we thought he just wasn't coming in today. We don't have any openings left, but you can leave him here all day and we will try to 'squeeze' him in" At this point I was so upset that I had to walk out the door. They can't keep appointment times and then they want me to leave my dog with them for over 12 hours so he can sit in a cage and not be able to relieve himself? That is ridiculous. I do not recommend this groomer to anyone unless you hate your dog and want...
