Sadly we were very disappointed in our entire experience. The man behind the counter made us feel rushed and as though we were inconveniencing him, as we tried to explore the store and it's menu. Some of the flavors were strange and bougie like something you would see on a Netflix baking show. But I am adventurous and understand that somebody must love these flavors like strawberry and thyme or pickle and peanut butter cupcakes....So I stayed safe and went with a baklava cupcake at almost 5 bucks a cupcake I was expecting and excited to share bites of it with my family after dinner. My mom got a cookies and cream as well as another flavor cupcake. We were absolutely disgusted when we bite into our baklava cupcake to discover it tasted exactly like Grandma's perfume...we spit it out. Evidently the baker was experimenting with rose water in his recipe. My mother called me later that night to express her dislike for both her cupcakes. We could have bought an amazing dessert somewhere else for what we paid for 3 nasty cupcakes here. We did also purchase a monster cookie and brownie which were average and overpriced....
Read moreCookies are good but service during the day with the guy worker they have during the week is horrible. I usually go at night and the lady is so sweet, but went a few times during the day lately and it seems to be the only time I get terrible service. I call ahead for my order, which is usually a 12 pack. I prefer fresh cookies instead of cookies that have been sitting and picked through. The guy always says yes I'll bake them fresh and when I get there its old ones. He's even had to remake my order because he knew what I had ordered was not what he had given me. However he did it again yesterday and when I asked why over the phone I was told yes your baking them fresh and now once I'm here your saying your not going to because some came out 20 mins ago. He proceeded to get hostile. Told me he owned the place (which I found very unbelievable, for im a business owner and I would never conduct myself in that manner.) But thanks for informing me, now I will never spend my money here again. I also let my friends and family know (who I referred might I add) to not go there...
Read moreI recently had the chance to try Sugar Shackâs cookies and had really been looking forward to them â Iâd heard such great things. Since my husband has a dairy allergy, I called the shop to ask whether their peanut butter cookies contain dairy, especially because I couldnât find any ingredient or allergen information online.
When I asked, the person who answered the phone responded with a very blunt âof course,â in a tone that felt unnecessarily rude and dismissive. It really caught me off guard. I wasnât trying to be difficult â my husbandâs safety depends on this kind of information, and plenty of peanut butter cookie recipes actually donât include dairy, so I thought it was a fair question.
I understand people get busy, but it would mean a lot if allergy questions were handled with more care and respect. I also hope the bakery considers making allergen information more accessible. A little more kindness in moments like this would...
