TLDR: I got what I expected, but was given threats of illegal actions by the geek squad agents of this location. Shady and left a bad taste in my mouth.
I want to start by saying I am a Long time Bestbuy shopper, a total tech plus member, and credit card holder.
I purchased an ROG Ally and had the SD card failure that so many people experienced with the first batch.
So as part of the warranty process ASUS asked me to utilize Bestbuy to ship the device to them.
I went through the Geek Squad and they took possession of my device. It was noted that my devices was scratched in the drop off notes when that was in fact NOT TRUE. My ally was in perfect condition. I was fearful that something would happen in shipping and I would be out of luck because this agent decided to write that in the notes without informing me of the situation.
Luckily when I went to pick up my device it was in the same perfect condition as when I dropped it off.
But when I asked the same agent (respectfully) why he didnât go over why he was putting that it was scratched, he said that it doesnât matter because they donât cover any scratches that they cause anyways. (If you donât cover scratches, then why claim my device was scratched to begin with?)
He also falsely told me that if I removed any stickers on the device in the future that they would deny any/all warranty claims which is a direct violation of the MagnusonâMoss Warranty Act.
All in all I got what I expected, I thought the agent was super cool when I dropped off the device, but everything post drop off was shady and making threats of illegal actions.
I canât stress this enough that I know retail employees have a rough job. I am literally one of the most chill customers a store can get. But this whole order really left me with a really really bad feeling.

   Read moreJust terrible, I bought an article online and I had to pick up while waiting in my car curbside it's called, the instructions where that when I arrived to the store to park on a marked parking spot and click that I was there and to enter the vehicle I was issing, so far so good, then the website tells me that a best buy associate will be doing a contactless delivery to my car between 5 and 10 minutes, the time passes and nothing, 20 minutes I looked around and there was 3 other vehicles waiting on the curbside pick up parking spots so they had been waiting longer than myself, 35 minutes passed and. I purchased a Geek Squad Certified "Excellent Condition" open-box PS5 from Best Buy, and after just a few months of light use, the system completely stopped working. Hoping for support, I scheduled a Geek Squad appointmentâonly to be told they couldnât help unless I purchased an additional membership, which wouldnât even apply to my device due to a 15-day policy that was never disclosed at the time of purchase.
When I went to the store to get help in person, the experience was no better. The supervisor I spoke with didnât seem to know the policies around open-box items and once again pushed me to buy a Best Buy Total membershipâwhich can cost up to $200âwith no guarantee it would solve the issue.
The truth is, Best Buyâs open-box âcertifiedâ items are unreliable, and if they fail, youâre on your own unless you pay even more. No repair, no refund, no accountabilityâjust aggressive upselling. Iâm now disputing the charge through my credit card.
