IHOP — Restaurant in Laredo

Disappointing... I arrive late so not busy, waiter was kind, seated me and took my drink and food order, since I knew what I wanted... the "Have It All Breakfast" ($11.99)...Hang on to that, I'll get back to it...

1. the drink (Sierra Mist) arrived quickly, but was completely undrinkable- pure soda- no syrup to the mix... off-putting, but it happens, I let it go... I asked for water.
2. food arrives with SHOCKING speed! Good right??? WRONG... there a reason why it takes a few minutes for food to come out... They're cooking it. This case, I am convinced it was cooked a LONG time ago. the hash browns were like boring down a mouthful of cold wooden toothpicks! the ham tasted... a little bitter... a little off (I hope I don't get sick from it) ☆ the eggs were the only bright spot... but, it only takes a minute to cook eggs the bacon was cold and hard and just shattered when I bit it (drying out happens when it's been left under a heating lamp for a long time)! the pancakes were fair as we the French toast The music overhead was LOUD and irritating... but the place was clean...

Finally, I go to check out... I hand my card without hearing the price - $16.85??? What? Are you trying to tell me that taxes in Laredo are $.50 on the dollar? Wait... how the fuuu... um... OK... $11.99 - oh, I added cheese to the scrambled eggs... I know inflation is ridiculous, but did that cheese just cost me $3.25+ (Plus another ~$1.25 for taxes)??? They had to have our charged me for a soda I couldn't drink... Plus... I'm in uniform... one never NOT received a military discount at an ihop... if I did this time, then that was expensive cheese and a soda I couldn't drink!

Like I said, disappointing... I guess I know one ihop that I'll not be...

The food is great and I don't have any complaints on its quality or timeliness. However, its happened several times already that either the waiters/waitresses don't really seem to listen or care or the cooks in the back as well and tonight was the last straw. I ordered 3 $6.99 burger combos with unlimited fries and one of them with no IHOP sauce. So not only did they not withhold the sauce from the burger, they also led us to believe that we could get any burger combo for $6.99 with unlimited fries. Well once we got the bill we see that the burger combos are NOT in fact $6.99 but $9.99 and we were confused because when we asked about the deal we thought we were very specific and when this concern was raised to the waiter that attended us he said that's what he understood but he wasn't going to be able to do anything about it. Now I really don't like arguing and plus it was late so I ended up paying the bill because we DID consume the meal but how unfortunate could it have been if in the case that we DIDN'T have the money to pay and he just heard what he wanted? Then at the end of all once I paid, said waiter didn't even bother to give me the rest of my change and at this point I didn't care enough for him to argue and decided that what he withheld will be his tip. Now this just one PRIME example of how they just really don't seem to care about the kind of job they do because it's "just another job" but then complain on social media because they don't get tips or get very little tips and it just makes me feel unapologetic towards their cause and more strict with my judgement in fact because there is a certain standard to be meet even in a place such as this and clearly it is not being enforced or even applied by the...

Greeted promptly and cheerfully upon entering the restaurant. My waitress took a drink order right off of the bat. When she returned with my coffee and water I gave her my order. So far, very good! My over medium eggs were over easy with the yolk actually cool to the touch. I could deal with it and ate as is because I was very hungry. Halfway through I went for my pancakes and noticed the butter on top had not melted one bit. I spread it out on all three and it did not melt in any of them. Waitress just happened by and I told her about it. She took them back and returned with a fresh stack that I could see the steam rising off. I thanked her and spread the butter which had slid off the stack and realized there was only enough to grease the top cake. I used extra syrup to avoid the dryness of the pancake but it wasn't as good if I had had more butter. Waitress was friendly throughout but I noticed her staring at my uneaten pancakes yet didn't ask if there was a problem. Very clean restaurant and friendly staff. Finer points of cooking and meal presentation need work. I drive over the road for a living. Nearly every meal I eat is prepared in a restaurant. These types of occurrences happen on a near daily basis and are minor compared to some of the things...
