The only indoor Mall in Las Cruces, NM. For what it is, it's fine but many of the stores here I either can't find things that will fit me or the v stores don't sell what I'm looking for I find Mesilla Valley Mall every stagnant unable to find good stores to support the Mall itself. Rent for vendors is rather high for such a small Mall, I hear but am not sure of that. I know the Mall seems to change almost every time I go there. Their security personnel need further training on ADA requirements when it comes to service dogs and not be so quick to judge and boot out persons using such animals. I saw a security guard boot out a woman using a service dog who was barking. It turns out that the dog was doing her job as she was trained to Bark when her handler was having a seizure, the security guard immediately escorted them out because the dog was barking. I spoke to the security officer and handed him an ADA service animal card with all the rules and regs on it, attempting to get him to understand that the dog was not barking uncontrollably or with viscous intent, the dog was only doing her job. He refused to listen to me or the handler about her dog. Neither of us has visited this Mall since. I have only been to the theatre not actually inside the mall. Even with official cards from the ADA this one officer broke the law and insisted the handler and dog leave and do not return with the dog. I have spoken to mall security attempting to explain the situation and just because a patron complains about a barking dog does not mean the dog is out of control. They need to follow ADA guidelines to...
Read moreThis has been an ongoing problem I think in retail in general. The stores at Mesilla Valley Mall are closing down sooner they can get ine opened up. Barnes and Nobel were their usual excellent quality with the wonderful smell of Starbucks in the background. But now its up to B&N and Dillards and JCPenney to hold down the fort. I dont even bother with going to the mall anymore because there are so few stores and that means selecting something to wear or purchase a gift is impossible. The last of the Mohicans closed up recently, Sears, Payless Shoes and others that their signs are down so I cant remember what the store was ! They have a bounce house like the ones you can rent for kids birtdays, a ride that makes you feel like you are in space. A1party rentals and a ride on an motorized animal shop. It really has hit rock bottom there were only a handful of people at the food court and chick fil A and I am thinking the patrons that were eating were probably other mall employees. This was between 12 and 1 o'clock. So if your looking for something other than a book from B&N better shop...
