My first time ever leaving a beauty salon with messy hair, not even combed after being under a blow dryer for quite a bit. No doubt that Laverne is a good master stylist but she lacks professionalism and compassion. She colored my hair, rinse and trimmed but during the process another customer came and told her to stay because she was almost done. She told me that she will set me under the blow dryer because my hair is long and thick while her other customer’s hair is short and thin. Ok, I agreed to that and she started cutting her other customer’s hair and rinsed it but 20 minutes passed and my scalp is getting too hot so I need to adjust the machine. I even told her I’m going to use the restroom to catch her attention but it didn't work. So I went back under the blow dryer and yes my hair is long and thick and is all dry and fluffy. As I was watching her she started doing foil highlights with her customer and she totally abandoned me. She didn’t even check on me not even once while I was in the dryer. I felt so frustrated so I got up and told her I’m leaving and all she said was “I’m sorry” . She didn’t look me in the eye, she didn’t even ask for an apology or try to make up, rather she just continued her conversation with her customer like I didn’t exist!. She charged me $115 for the unfinished service, Of course I still gave her a tip because I am not like her and I understand the value of hard work. When my husband saw me she was twice as disappointed because it was his post-valentines gift for me but was a disaster. I made this review not to destructively criticize Laverne but to remind her that Everybody is Somebody like what JCpenney salon promised “There is no one more you, than you. You are there to help and if We...
Read moreI would never recommend this place. Worst experience I’ve EVER had at a salon. I went to get my hair done a few months back. I picked an experienced hairstylist and I ended up with my scalp being chemically burned, the color washing out after ONE wash, and my hair fried. I paid $220 and it wasn’t worth a single penny. I even went back the day after to let them know something wasn’t right and my scalp was very sensitive and burning and they didn’t care at all. I called and filed a case with corporate and it took the salon manager an entire month to get back to me even after I was told it would take 3-5 days for an email or phone call, I called every week with no response until a couple of weeks ago. I asked for a refund of my money and explained what happened but I was totally disregarded. I was basically talked to like I have never colored my hair before, yet I’ve had vivid color for years. They practically did everything they could just to not have to give me a refund. Very unprofessional place, I had a better experience at the beauty school, and I didn’t leave there with a chemical burn. My scalp is now extremely sensitive (I’ve never had a sensitive scalp) and I’ve spent more time money just trying to fix my hair from this one experience. If I could give this place 0...
Read moreThank you to Ana M. at the salon and Aisha and Kiera at the makeup department!!! You 3 are lifesavers!!!
I had a disastrous trial bridal appointment at a high-end salon here in town, so my mom and I went to JCPenny because she remembered Ana doing her hair in a pinch before a funeral.
Ana listened to me, looked at my reference photos, and communicated with me throughout the entire process. She also referred me to the girls at the JCPenny makeup department, who did complimentary makeup for me and my mom. I cannot thank them enough. Kiera (makeup) really elevated my natural features and made me feel so beautiful! She too communicated with me throughout the process and helped me achieve my dream look.
I now I have a bridal look I am happy with. The JCPenny salon and makeup department are now coordinating with each other and scheduling to make sure I get the bridal look I want for my day. Thank you JCPenny ladies for saving the day on such...
