Leavenworth Local is NOT READY FOR PRIME TIME.
Positives: —Boutique hotel —Local vibe in "lobby" —One block from local flavor and shopping on historic Delaware Street —Novel theme - old converted Catholic school at a "downtown" Leavenworth location —Original blackboards in decor (like 12ft + of whole slate - no seams, beautiful works of functional art - so glad they chose to retain them.) —Extreme high ceilings —Cute retro-modern kitchenette with clean white subway tile —Available off-street parking —Roomy/Large room
Negatives: —Counter/Desk staff and customer service —3 floors, no elevators —Not wheelchair accessible at any entrance (all require steps) —Steps are steep and not cardiac/pulmonary or asthmatic friendly —Absence of an elevator not prominently (if at all?) displayed on website —Selling nonrefundable tickets without disclaimer of not being disabled-friendly —Cleanliness/maintenance issues (partially filled construction bag of trash left in doorway of room to step over on entry. Front desk person admits, “I don't remember when that room was last cleaned.") Attention to Detail (no towels in room - none - at all. Waited 45 minutes after request to have them delivered, and delivery person stepped over the construction trash bag in doorway to leave without thinking of taking it away.) —Lovely ceiling fan not clean so it blows debris including dead bugs onto the beds below (ceiling height is clearly a barrier to this) —Discolored white sheets —Decor. Furniture does not match the chic vibe of new bathroom/kitchenette construction (old - not retro! /gouged/scratched used motel - looking furniture) —Some rooms without windows. —Blackboards with no chalk or erasers, but with other people 's scribble and tic-tac-toe game. ) —temperature adjustment not intuitive and lacked instructions (or maybe the remote needed batteries?) —Unfinished or unrepaired room (Wall decor above bed one, but missing decor and visible anchor holes above bed two.) —Black/dark windowless hallways untilmotion is detected, then creepy-move like sequential lighting popping up down the hallway. (cost saving is obvious, but at the expense of feeling safe and welcomed.) Construction choices (flimsy hanging closet door only barrier between toilet smells and/or shower humidity and the sleeping area.) —Room cost considering all...
Read moreThis might be a great place for a night or 2 ..not For extended stay, with small dog .. I had made pre-arrangements for a quiet room with extended stay...after driving for 12 hrs.. when I 1st got there the room was still dirty..They did put me in another ..which was nice and Quiet on the 3rd floor ..After a couple days of stay Some of my personal things were gone out of my room ...I put in a complaint to the front desk which they had explained to me that housekeeping may have thought that it was a check out room... I just said well how can that be all my things are still in there and I had a no disturb sign on the door and even so why didn't they just put things back when they realized it wasn't...a couple of days after that management called me and said I could not stay in that room anymore that I would have to move to another room immediately ...One of the front desk clerks had told me that the room I was in was 1 of the nicest rooms and I sort of have the feeling that they did not want me to stay with extended stay in 1 of their nicest rooms... well ok, they moved me onto the 1st floor, one of the 1st room by the front desk it was the noisiest room I have ever been in and it was drafty from the windows..I was freezing in there... if you like to look out of the window or have phobia good luck not if you're a short person.. I did ask them to move me to another room but Management said I had to stay in that room..they dint have any other rooms with windows..all I wanted was quiet and a window to look out of.. needless to say I left and would not go back!! I do have to say, the rest of the staff was very nice and tried there best.. but Management very disappointing!! Found a place in town that is quite with windows, much nicer clean room/kitchenette, extended stay equal priceing better amenities.. staff super nice very...
Read moreThe room was clean, and the staff were nice upon my arrival. The reason for one star, is because when I returned to my room on the second night, I was able to get in, but realized I left my charger in my car walked out without grabbing a card thus locking myself out. At any other hotel I’ve ever stayed out this would not be an issue, you would go to the front desk and get a new card and get back into your room. However, this particular location, they close their front desk and there is a number you have to call in order to get a hold of anyone. because I locked my phone in my room, I didn’t have the option to call. I did try from the front desk phone, but had no luck. I did yell out thinking maybe someone was in a back office and could hear me. I had no luck and thus wasted a night. I understand a lot of this scenario was my fault, however, when you are paying to stay at a place that is supposed to specialize in hospitality these sorts of scenarios should be accounted for. I would’ve spent the night in the parking lot had my friend not offered their room, which funnily enough had a night agent that reissued a room key for her room. What is unfortunate, is that other than that fiasco; my stay was cordial and friendly upon check-in, there was coffee in the lobby, they told me where the nearest Walmart was and gave me directions, and up until I realized that a closed front desk meant absolutely can’t help you at all after midnight I was enjoying my stay. My room was clean and the AC was functional. I did not see housekeeping once while I was there, though, and never got new towels but I solved that easily enough. I wouldn’t recommend it for families, because there’s a lot of stairs and no baggage carts. It is also built next to a gymnasium which can be...
