Butterfly Biosphere — Attraction in Lehi

This is a great opportunity for kids to learn without even realizing it. I myself learned quite a few new things that I never knew before. But first, is this place expensive? Yes it is. But here are my thoughts on our experience. We went here during the summer and during the weekday and it was not busy at all. I do believe that this is a place that will likely be busy all year due to the fact it does great with everyone. There are interactive stations all around with hands on learning that will keep you learning something new everyone you go back. They even had a sun glasses scavenger hunt that got my kiddos going! Even though the prize station at the end was only a sticker. 🤣Check out my pictures of different stations that are interactive for everyone!

That day we checked out the butterfly biosphere and that was awesome. 😎 Got to learn about bugs, understand the life cycle of a butterfly and moths! It was really cool to see the mini presentations that kids could watch. It was also cool to see what they do to bring this part of learning to life. I do recommend you spend a couple days here at Thanksgiving point to visit all the different parts, as it will literally take days to see and do everything. It was cheaper for us to buy season tickets and we plan on coming back during our time frame of our yearly pass. But there are a variety of ways to get tickets so it will be in your best interest to do your homework and see what works best for you. There are many ways to get tickets but here are a few examples of those packages; grandparents can get tickets to bring their grandchildren in, and the amount of grandchildren. You could buy a day pass. Or you could buy a "sampler" pass that allows you to explore every part of Thanksgiving point in one day. Even though I would highly discourage that because that is a lot of movement in one day and not a great way to fully appreciate what has been done here. And there are many other ways you could get tickets. You will just need to do a little bit...

This place was such a fun place to visit. I was amazed that it was there! The last time I came to this building at Thanksgiving Point it was a visitor center/gift store. I'm so glad that they repurposed it to something meaningful for children. The design of the building took about 3-4 years. The engineers and innovators included the local elementary School in the process of ideation for the new biosphere. They asked the kids what they thought the life of a butterfly would be like. You can see the submissions for their ideas in the hall by the entrance. It was really cool to see things implemented into the building that were inspired by the kids drawings. Like a room of butterflies! Or a 'nector slide.' Sadly the Zipline didn't make it into the building... But hey just about everything else did! The biosphere itself was really nice. It was like walking into the Amazon rainforest. 85 degree temperatures with misters going off every now and then to keep it humid. Our kids loved it. But there were some other children that were terrified by the flying 'bugs'. They thought they were going to be bitten or stung by the butterflies. You may need to point that out to your kids before you go. This experience rivals the one at the Loveland Living Planet Aquarium. Though there are definitely more butterflies here, there is more space, the butterflies are bigger, and it feels more like their environment, the aquarium has a more personal feel. This is probably because of the amount of people that were there. It was a bigger room but there were SO many people. It got crowded quickly. The butterflies didn't ever land on us at the biosphere, when they would at the aquarium.
