Nestled just off the main drag in Lemoyne, Scotzin Homebrew Supplies is a hidden gem for anyone passionate about crafting beer, wine, mead, cider—or even soda and kombucha. What began in the 1960s as Paul and John Scotzin’s experimental wine-making hobby blossomed into an appliance‑store‑turned‑homebrew‑paradise when customers started sampling bubbling carboys in the back of the shop . Today, nearly 50 years later, Scotsin Bros. continues to thrive at 65 North Fifth Street—thanks to Tom Scotzin’s vision to expand the business sixfold and embrace the rising craft‑brew movement.
Inside, it feels more like a homebrew clubhouse than a retail store. With hundreds of brewing and winemaking kits, bulk malts, fresh hops, chilled yeasts, and fermenters, the inventory is thoroughly stocked—and neatly organized into categories from All‑Grain and Kegging to Mead, Cider, and even Soda & Kombucha . The staff—many of whom are regulars themselves—aren’t just clerks; they’re enthusiastic mentors. On any given Wednesday or Saturday, beginner or pro, you’ll find them chatting recipes, troubleshooting mash temperatures, or sampling a brewer’s latest batch .

The guys at Scotzin have experience home brewing and are always glad to help. At this point in my development as a home brewer advice from an experienced brewer is more valuable than anything. For that reason, I will always go to Scotzin. As long as their prices are reasonable - which they are- I don't see any reason to go anywhere else - most especially including the big catalog/website places or the other place across town.
Not only have they helped me with brewing tips but, they refurbished some corni kegs I acquired. Great place. Love it. If you want to get into home brewing...
Read moreExtremely knowledgeable and not pushy about making a sale. Took the time to explain the entire process from start to finish. I really wish I lived closer, however they offer online sales and ship via USPS. If you are interested in getting started in brewing, wine making or MEAD this is definitely a place to stop. My fiance, my step sons and I were in the area and decided to stop in. Definitely cheaper than buying online. Even if it wasn't I was definitely going to spend money here for the amount of time and knowledge that was given. That in itself...
