More Adventure than Trampoline

The second Urban Air location is finally open, shiny and new! But where the first location is primarily trampolines, the new location places equal emphasis on climbing. The anesthetic feels more like Main Event than a gym.

There are some growing pains that I'm sure will work out when the newness wears off: getting in on a Saturday morning can take half an hour, and if there's only one person handling harnesses in the front climbing area, kids might wait a few minutes to be unclipped.

The tube playground has some interesting areas for younger kids. The rope walkway can be a bit confusing the first time (which way are we supposed to go again?) but is fun once or twice.

The sky rider coaster is a blast. Only bad thing about it is waiting in line, as it's very popular.

I was pleased to see both a family restroom and that there's a changing station in the men's room.

The Cafe is reasonably priced and the tables and chairs are adequate to the task. The event area looks similarly up to handling a few parties.

The upper area has no seating. If your kids are just interested in the trampolines or are too small for anything more than the "basic" areas, you may find yourself standing in what feels like a crowded hallway. There is no "Bowl" for under-7 kids to jump without the bigger kids around like there is in Overland Park, so for the little ones it's the Apex or the Tube Playground.

On a similar note, the obstacle course feels like it was designed backward: the "easy" course is the one that's farthest from the main walkway, so parents waiting in line with the little kids have to stand awkwardly and uncomfortably while bigger kids use the more advanced paths. And don't make the mistake I made of thinking it'll be like any other ball pit if your little one decides to try the most advanced course. They're not easy to move through even for adults.

Overall, the new location feels like a more grown-up version of Urban Air. If your kids are under about 7, you might find the Overland Park location a bit more comfortable. For those looking for more than just trampolines, the new Lenexa location is a great place to wear...

I've gone to the South OP location for years so I have an idea of what to expect of a place ran by teenagers. The Lenexa location somehow has twice the staff yet manages to do twice as bad. You are guaranteed to spend close to 30 min just waiting to pay. There are 3 computers and staff at the desk but they utilize 1 at a time, even as lines build up. The first time I went I began to fill out a waiver when a girl greeted us and informed me if I had a waiver from 143rd that I didn't need to create a new one. So I stopped, waited in line for 20 min just to have the cashier tell me I had to fill out a new waiver. I get back in line wait another 20 min because the staff is unfamiliar with the system. The second visit when it was my turn to pay a man jumps in front to get help from the manager with his waiver. The manager takes him over to the only register with a cashier to assist him. So now the cashier backs off and just stands idle while there were 2 other computers that are identical right next to it. He looks at me, looks at the other computers, then just shrugs. I understand it's difficult when you have managers that lack the ability to make good decisions but sometimes as an employee you have to speak up and give them a suggestion such as "Hey they were waiting in line can you use the other computer or unlock it so I can continue to check in customers." The concession stand is more of the same. I wouldn't go expecting to purchase food or drinks as inevitably there will be an issue why they can't serve you. I couldn't buy a drink because the "system was down". The same system that's working to take people's money at the front door. So I get a manager and ask to have my time extended since we have to leave the building to get drinks and magically the system works again. I sat and watched another customer get turned away right after me. The facility itself is nice but the staff needs some reconfiguring to provide a better customer experience and a staff that is proficient at doing their job. It seems management is more worried about arguing with customers negative reviews than improving them, which tells you all you...

Very disappointing and frustrating experience at Urban Air Lenexa. My children (only 3 and 5 years old) were given repeated warnings by staff — four times — for allegedly “not following rules,” even though they were simply playing safely and calmly. Meanwhile, older kids were running around wildly and weren’t approached once.

As an Asian family, it was painfully clear we were being singled out and unfairly targeted. This kind of subtle but obvious discrimination is unacceptable. No parent — and certainly no child — should have to feel watched, judged, or unwelcome because of their race.

We are actually members and come here regularly, and I’ve seen many situations where rules were ignored — with no intervention from staff: • Groups of teenagers chasing each other, yelling and roughhousing through the park without being stopped. • Older, bigger kids not following safety rules and even knocking over my children — and still no staff stepped in. • Kids well above the height limit entering the slide area with no one stopping them. • Most kids sliding down and then climbing back up the slide from the bottom, even though there are clear “no climbing” signs right next to it — and even when their parents watched, they simply laughed and told them “be careful.”

In contrast, I constantly remind my children to follow the rules and be respectful of others, and this is the treatment we receive?

I will not stay silent. I will continue to speak up for families like mine. I sincerely hope Urban Air takes this seriously, because I will be paying attention. I don’t want another Asian family to experience the same kind of...

You will never want to go to other trampoline places in town again. This place has trampolines and a lot more. The kids loved it. Rock walls, slides, mazes, dodgeball, free style jump, virtual reality, zip lines, large ball pit with an obstacle course. Kids of all ages will have a blast. They offer tables for parties, but we opted for a private room, which was nice. You can leave your items without fear of someone walking off with items. They also offer lockers if you’re not there for a party. The party room had an option for a black light party, which we didn’t get and kind of wish we would have after seeing a room. The pizza came out warm and fresh. The hosts work off of minimum wage and we were told gratuity of $70 per party was suggested, so be prepared to pay for a tip after all us said and done. Overall, we will never go to another jump place again if we are booking an event. Lots of room, tons of different things for kids to do and the 2 hour party will fly by. Parents actually had fun and didn’t dread just standing around watch their kids just jump, the kids actually got to play. Face masks for parents were asked and lots of hand sanitizer in various places. Kids were allowed to play without wearing masks.

Urban Air itself is amazing. There are so many different activities to do, that you could spend all day playing...belay rockwall climbing, an indoor playground, multiple areas of trampolines, 4 ninja warrior style obstacle courses, and a mini arcade. You get a lot of fun, but at a pretty steep price, in my opinion; I highly recommend searching out coupons or seeing when their discounted prices pop up (we got 40% off today with a code from their website). The minimum height for most of their bigger fun stuff is 41 inches, so my 4yr old was a little disappointed he couldn't do all the activities that his big brother could. My biggest complaint is that there were unsupervised kids there wreaking havoc. I talked to a group of 10-12yr old boys that were playing in an area they were too big for by the facility recommendations, because they were flying around, like kids do, but knocked over 2 other kids in the 6-8yr old age range in the process. Much like most children's entertainment activities anymore, the unsupervised children were problematic. My boys and I were still able to have a good time; we just avoided the groups that seemed to cause the most issues and played elsewhere if they came to where we were.
