My teenage daughter and I went to have lunch after her doctors appt and upon arriving we were seen at the front desk and no one even attempted to come and greet or seat us for at-least 3-4 minutes ( keep in mind the staff was all around and the bartender looked at us and went back to doing whatever she was doing) that should have been my cue to leave but I stayed. Eventually a white couple came in to be seated and someone finally came to the front to seat us both. How convenient! Once we were seated at around 3:30pm, my daughter and I were quite hungry (she’s a diabetic and needed to eat) so we ordered our food at the same time that we ordered our appetizer. The appetizer came out within a reasonable time but after waiting and waiting we were anxiously looking for our food to arrive. I attempted to find our waitress but couldn’t. When she eventually came I asked her where was our meal, this was around 4:15pm (45 minutes later) and she responded that she didn’t know what was going on. I then asked for my the ticket for our appetizer and that I would just leave. She went to get the ticket and came back and I proceeded to pay. I instantly felt like the manager should have came and addressed us and apologized for the inconvenience but that never happened. The waiter headed back over to us and I asked her where was the manager and she proceeded to tell me that the manager sent her back over to tell me not to worry about paying for the appetizer. Where is the manager though?!?! As the waiter walked away I noticed a lady standing behind the wall leading to the kitchen who seemed to be waiting for her to return. She then turned to the waiter seemingly to ask her what was my response. I was already heading over to her to see why she sent her worker to do her job. How unprofessional! I asked her if she was the manager and she said that she was, so I asked her why didn’t she come over to handle the situation instead of sending the waitress, and she proceeded to tell me that she had just got to work….What does that mean exactly?!? You were here long enough to access the situation and watch her come over to me from behind a wall, but you couldn’t come over?! You shouldn’t be a manager if you can’t handle your responsibility as a problem solver in your establishment. I am a African American customer who was clearly ignored from the time that I walked in and during my visit, and was never given a reason as to why I never received my meal and the manager never once apologized…I’ll never...
Read moreOk, so I did get here towards the end of their shift, 8:30 with a close at 9, but that was as soon as I could get in from Salina. I quickly ordered the KC Strip and Fries ($25) as well as a drink called the Koco Mo ($8).
I'd like to start off with some praise first, the fries were amazing, some of the best I've had in recent memory. They were golden brown, crispy, hot, and delicious. Kudos on the fries.
The Koco Mo consisted of malibu coconut rum, 360 raspberry vodka, cranberry, and lime. It was a flavorful drink and went down smoothly with a sweet aftertaste.
Before I go on, I'd like to say these comments are made with a positive constructive criticism intent. I'd also like to note I'm not a professional food critic and this isn't like a Michelin rated steakhouse.
Ok, on to the steak. The steak was cooked well for the most part, I ordered medium, middle was fine. The issue for me was there wasn't any flavor and it was tougher and drier than I'd like (might have been an old cut). The only flavor was meat, which if the cut is good enough would probably be fine, but not in this instance, and the only other flavor was grease. Those were the only two flavors I could detect. The outside was probably cooked too hot as it was like beef jerky on the outside. The only way I was able to get through it was eating it with katchup and the delicious fries. If the meat cut is a little sub par, you're going to have to spice it up a bit. It needs a flavor hook. Butter, garlic, and salt would be a minimum start to help this guy out. Maybe I got an older piece, who knows.
The bread that comes with the meal was ok. I think it may have been a bit dated as well.
Service was adequate, but I did have to ask for refills and such. I understand it was towards the end of the evening, but it wasn't that busy and focus seemed to be more on the closing duties instead of client satisfaction and I understand that as the days do get long.
So that's my take on my first time at a Red Door Woodfire Grill. Since they are a chain, I rated them a 4, but they are hovering very...
Read moreI made a reservation here for my family to see my daughter before she heads off to college in another state. She use to work here btw. I reserved the patio because I had been here two times prev during summer months and knew they offered air ventilation at one point with fans. This Sunday 7/27 was a heat advisor warning day so when we got there it was overly hot we asked to be accommodated to the inside. We was told fine but we had to be out by 6:30pm reservation was at 4pm no biggie. However this room has water dropping in the chairs and floor from the ceiling that was advised by a server it can't be fixed it's from the air conditioners! Ok ... so around 6:10 two ladies started coming in the room cleaning up looking annoyed. I started rounding up everyone to leave. All tickets had been paid and I even had to correct the server on my ticket because she forgot something to insure she was paid and gave extra tips! We get stopped coming outside the door by one of the ladies that started cleaning up looking annoyed and it was Jordan the manager saying someone didn't pay for a Philly egg roll and a fry. Everyone stayed outside because we don't dash and dine that's ridiculous! Maybe because of our color they thought that! I personally asked everyone and accounted for every one meal while we waited in front in the heat for her to verify she had my card at this time as well. I gave her my card and said just charge it I don't want any problems! It was 23.00 from a $500 tab from everyone's meal! Only myself and a friend had Philly egg rolls and we paid for sure! And a fry was a kid that was put on her parents tab and was paid for sure! Not to mention when we left I felt everybody was staring at us! She comes back and apologize then states there will be no charge I told her to just add to the servers gratuity she was great! I will never be back! People of...
