I love community theater! That being said, my husband and I were excited to attend the final performance of Godspell. We were very disappointed and disgusted. The performance was not of Godspell, but a woke and political interpretation of Godspell and should have been advertised as such. The director used a Bible-based play to make a political statement that not everyone agrees with and, had we known this performance was not of the original play, we would not have wated our time and money. ALSO, 3 of the 8 performers consider themselves nonbinary! That is, they consider themselves to be neither male nor female, which totally goes against God's word in the Bible. How can they in good conscience portray characters that support and follow Jesus, yet do not accept themselves the way God made them?! This whole production was disgusting and I hope that in the future GLTC will differentiate between a play that is being followed as written and a play that is being interpreted to make a statement so that attendees are allowed to...
Read moreWow! I just saw my first show here last night. The show was Next to Normal and the production was wonderful. The theatre is TINY, but that did not stop the entire production team from putting on a BIG show that did justice to my favorite musical of all time. At this point I've seen numerous productions of this show, and this one ties for number one. Not only was the production wonderful, but I also felt that the theatre itself was a community of its own. Thank you to the cast, crew, and anyone else involved for creating a piece of art that I was lucky enough to...
Read moreAs a visual artist, I love this place. Did somebody say "plays"? I've been to a few plays here and they were hilarious, fun, engaging and just fantastic! I think I'm going to need season tickets. Oh, and being a member of VAL (Visual Art League of Lewisville), I get to participate along with other artists, having my art hung on the wall, and for sale. Nice! I celebrated my birthday here and had an amazing time. Y'all gotta come see a show. Don't forget to look at the beautiful display of flowers outdoors. Have fun.
The theater is small and quite quaint....
