I am just not happy with my glasses when I arrived at eye glass world I let them know I was a hour in a half drive away and I had broke my glasses and I came to them so I could get my glasses that day because I could not see, They said great you came to the right place! So they assigned me to a person to help Me they went to the Dr first to see what time they could do my vision test after they made sure I had Insurance and it would pay, so they said I could get a eye tested in about 45 minute so she followed me around showing me frames and some man in a suite kept calling her back to the desk telling her something then she would come back to me leading me to higher frames felt like I was at a car Lot!!! So it was time for my test so I went in let the lady no all I needed was to see what script I needed to get glasses I did not need any eye drops or anything, and that I seen on line the eye test was $27 so I have my test get my script and that man in the suit and lady that was helping me was right out side the door waiting on me to come out they took the frames I picked out no really sure if I liked them but was tired of trying on frames with them hading me frames saying try this try this !! So they suggest I get lens I had never worn before and that they where so much better and I would see so much better and so on and I got my lens orders and they came back and said your Insurance wonāt pay for these frames because it has not been a year I said ok I can pay for my frames so I think I am getting my glasses and coming home NOPE they made me a pair of glasses that I could see distance but nothing up close and I could read nothing at all ! So they said my lens would be in next week about 7 days and they would call me and that ment another hour 1/2 drive back for me and I still could not see ! If they had told me that up front when I first walked in the door I could of went somewhere else !! Now I have my glasses with the lens they said that where the best and there not I still canāt see out of them and I have to make another 11/2 drive back to Lexington to take them back because they said I needed to try them for two weeks my glasses with them where higher than any glasses I have ever bought they where over $600.00 out of my pocket plus my Insurance and I have good vision ins and they new that .. and I feel like I was ripped off and still can not see a thing so my glasses are going back for a refund and I will go some...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreSo here's what Eyeglass World was met with last Monday.
A barely audible guy with one contact lens in called from a Subaru station where his car was being worked on at the tail end of a week-long, 2600-mile road trip. The secretary could barely understand my ramble yet still managed to put in a placeholder for me for a rushed 12:15 eye appointment (sliding me in on the fly, no appointments were available until 2:30), as they couldn't sell me a replacement lens due to the fact that I hadn't had my eyes checked in two years.
Didn't even take the appointment at first, I DECLINED the favor while still shopping around for better times and she held the favor for me while I poked around. THEN I disappeared after checking in to go walk around (I showed up early and thought I had time) and they STILL let me get in after I wandered back. Very, very cool people.
I hadn't had my eyes checked because my eyesight has remained at the same stable prescription level since 1998, and while it had been suggested to me before why I should consider lightening my prescription, it had never been explained WHY I should, so expertly and with nuance -- considering I'm a middle-aged dude that is averse to changing things he's had in his whole life.
I didn't get the lighter lenses, but I will next time (I had a long drive ahead of me, and just wanted to be sure) at an Eyeglass World that is nowhere near Lexington, as we live three hours away. Actually, I might make the drive just for this doctor, and that staff. Was grateful for just sneaking in for an appointment in the first place, then the best and most thorough (but quick! She knew I was champing to hit the road again) eye exam I've ever had.
Wasn't encouraged or paid to write this, and I didn't get a deal outside of the Eyeglass World plan I'd signed up for (which the assistant REMINDED me of), essentially making the visit free and the needed contacts the only cost of my trip to the store.
(EDIT: Now that I recall, I did get a deal: the doctor found a coupon for me just before I left that gave me 40 bucks off the lenses I just bought, reminding me that this was enough for that night's dinner with my wife, as we ended a trip made all the more lovelier by...
