I went into the convenience store portion of this location on 12-11-17. The clerk rang me out, I paid by card and the clerk said I had to do the transaction over because she accidentally rang it is cash. So she redid the transaction and I swiped my card again and was on my way. The next morning I checked my bank account and found out that both transactions had gone through and the first one was from $25 more than the purchase amount. I called the store and ended up speaking with “Store Director” Anthony who looked into it and found out that she had rang the first one as cash back and instead of voiding it, or just apologizing and giving me the money, she rang it a second time. He said the only way I would get my money back was if I came to the store to get it all back in cash. I explained to him that I was not even from the area and was there on work and my schedule was super tight and would have trouble finding time to get up there. He said he could only refund my money as cash and if I wanted it I needed to come in. I ended up being able to make time to step away from my job around 3pm that day. I went to the store and headed to the customer service counter as instructed. I let them know who I was and the clerk said “It’s about time you showed up. I’ve been waiting for you all day. I was about to leave and no one else could’ve been able to help you”. She starts to let me know what they found. I tell her that I know what they found and would like to grab my money because I have to get back to work. She then tells me that I “need to chill out and listen to her.” At this point, despite how irritated I was, I was continuing to be polite. There was no need to speak to me like that. They did give me a $30 gift card for my troubles, even after I explained to them that I don’t live there and would not be back to the store. I called the customer service number and explained the situation. They told me that I had to speak to the store director first. So I talked to Anthony again. I explain to him what had just happened and how I appreciated his gesture with the gift card, but after that clerk being outright rude to me I would not be giving the store a second chance. To which he replied “I was just trying to be nice. You can just go ahead and toss out the gift card.” I hung up and called customer service back and explained the further escalated situation. The person I spoke with told me that she was opening up an incident report about it and the market director would be contacting me soon. That was the 12th. Fast forward to today, the 20th, and I still haven’t heard from the market director. I called the customer service line to follow up. I find out that not only is Anthony not the Store Director, but the person I spoke with failed to create the incident report. Supposedly one is created now, but we will see. Moral of the story is Meijer doesn’t care at all about their customers. Don’t waste your...
Read moreI was going to get on here and give 3 employees and the store of one star review. I didn't get 2 of the names. One was Jeremy. It was at close on Monday, December 16th. I was trying to pick up an item to take to my children's grandmother for nausea, who is actively passing away on home hospice care. All three people said the item looked to be in stock, and that I could go hunt for it. I have mobility issues of my own, and it was 15 minutes to close at that point 10 minutes til close. I didn't have time to hunt for it, that's why I asked for help. This occurs at both lexington locations anytime I have ever asked for assistance. The saving grace at this location was a wonderful lady that was coming into work as I was going out with an item similar for twice the price for 2 ounces of the 7 ounce product I was looking for. In other words, for what I paid, I would have had 14 ounces of this rather than 2. Even though they had closed, she went in. She helped me locate the product which is never where I would have looked for it at. Helped me check out and said she was curious about it and wanted to try it herself and even paid for it for me. It's Christmas, everyone is tight for money. This lady did not have to help me. She did not have to buy it for me because of the trouble that I had gone through. She certainly did not understand that I have been running uber at night because I'm between jobs, I haven't even managed to pay my rent yet this month. I have till friday to come up with it and a car payment. She did this out of the kindness of her heart, and has no clue what this meant to me or my children. I do wish I had gotten her name, but if she sees this, she knows who she is, god bless you, ma'am, Meijer's has a wonderful employee with this person. She helped me more than she knows. I was concerned with coming up with enough gas. To make the 3 trips between Lexington and Louisville that I have to make tonight, because in addition to their grandmother's illness, their father is having open heart surgery this morning and no one on that side of the family can get them from Louisville to Lexington and back, because of course his wife is with him, and that's about the only other person that can do it. So I'm making my first of 3 trips between Lexington and Louisville tonight at 12:20a.m. in the morning. And this wonderful kind lady is the only one in the store that made any...
Read moreThis place is a total enigma to me. Perhaps it is due to growing up in a world filled with Walmart and Kroger Department Stores with the occasional smattering of a K-Mart here and there that I feel completely lost in Meijer no matter how many times I go in this place. I can never find my way around in here, and although it's not really any larger than your average Super Walmart, I feel like this place may be too big for it's own good. I suppose the best I can do here is to directly compare and contrast it to Walmart and their selection and prices as well as customer service. I can't say that I've had to ask many questions of the staff here, but I can say without a shadow of a doubt that Meijer is far superior to Walmart when it comes to clerk customer service. They always have what seems to be enough lanes open to accommodate the number of people in the store, as opposed to Walmart in which you'll be lucky to find one lane open during the busiest Christmas rush. Their prices however seem all over the place. Many things seem to average out with Walmart and Kroger, while other things (garbage bags) are waaaay overpriced and have a terrible selection. However their selection of ethnic and exotic foods is far superior to either and food prices seem to be right in line with average, although they do have some really great sales. As far as other departments go, I feel in many ways their electronics department has a far larger selection when it comes to most categories but they do fall short in some areas. Their electronics prices however seem outrageous to me compared to Walmart. For example, I saw a PC/Xbox360 controller for sale at Meijer for 30.00 which was being sold at Walmart for 15.00, and their PS 4 controllers likewise are about 20 dollars overpriced. In conclusion, it's basically a toss-up. Personally, I like to go to Kroger for groceries and try to catch everything on sale with their app...but if you're looking for the best selection and variety where price is not as important to you, Meijer is...
