Chaotic Experience – Needs Serious Improvement

I visited Wowbooza in Duluth today, and I have to ask—are you all hiring a manager? Because this place desperately needs help. If not, someone like Gordon Ramsay needs to step in and whip things into shape.

The overall experience was extremely chaotic, disorganized, and frustrating. My group ordered a stretchy ice cream, a strawberry Dubai cup, and a drink. We sat down to wait, only to notice that two people who ordered after us received their items first. After 30 minutes, one of the workers finally looked up, realized we were waiting for ice cream, and handed it to us. Meanwhile, we witnessed another customer wait over an hour for a tea drink.

The line was constantly out the door, and instead of keeping up with orders, they continued taking new ones, causing more people to wait than food being handed out. The staff seemed completely overwhelmed, and it was obvious there was no system in place to handle the high demand.

Considering how this place went viral on social media, there should have been a plan in place to accommodate the rush. They should have anticipated the influx of customers and adjusted staffing, workflow, and prep accordingly.

Suggestions for Improvement:

Prepping before opening: Have ingredients and supplies ready before the doors open.

Clearly defined roles: Each station should have a designated person—one for desserts, one for teas/coffees, one for ice cream, etc. The cashier should not be leaving to make desserts or scoop ice cream.

Better workflow: The strawberry cups could be pre-made or prepped ahead of time to reduce wait times.

Order tracking system: A digital screen displaying orders in real time would help both staff and customers keep track of progress.

Accommodate viral success: When a place goes viral, it needs proper staffing, faster production methods, and a structured system to keep things running smoothly.

Dedicated employees for specific tasks: The man providing information about the ice cream should not also be serving, taking out the trash, and handling food without gloves.

Wowbooza has the potential to be great, but the lack of organization and preparation made it a frustrating experience. Until these issues are addressed, I can’t...

I wish I could give this place to a higher rating. The place is extremely packed because it is now viral on social media, which most of you guys know. I waited in line for about 30 to 45 minutes. Once I got inside, the man at the register, I’m assuming he was the owner, sold a chocolate bar to the person in front of me. Refused to sell me one because he said he ran out, and then sold one to my friend right behind me. He gave me the opportunity to just buy one small one instead of a large chocolate bar I thought that was pretty insane since I had to wait in line For so long and not be able to get what I wanted. When I went up to him and Asked why he sold my friend behind me a chocolate bar, he said because they were just made. I then asked him to change out my small one for the big one and he asked me for the small one which I showed him that he did not even give it to me yet. He insisted that he gave it to me already when he did not. Then he said he was gonna ring up the person in front of me first and proceeded to Ask what they wanted while I was standing right there. He said it was first come first serve. Clearly, I was there way longer. A lot of people say that they’ve experienced good customer service and that they really like this family and their establishment, but Very unorganized thus far. I would love to go back because the Desserts are really good. But I did not like the Customer Service. Obviously, the Prices aresuper high right now. They don’t even put pistachios on top of the strawberries, just the chocolate and the cream and Kunafa. I thought that was crazy not to mention when I did get a Kunafa, They barely put pistachios on that too. A chocolate bar was $20 for a large. The stretchy ice cream was Nothing special. The Turkish kunafa did taste really good though, the strawberries were also good and the chocolate bar was good. Pricey, but Good. I will try and give this place another chance. WowBooza is too expensive and needs to work on their customer service. I've been here twice, once to try the Dubai chocolate bar ($8 for small, $20 for large--large is about the size of a Hershey's bar, but thicker), and once to try the booza (stretchy ice cream).

We wanted to try some flavors for booza, so the cashier told us to move to the side where the freezer was to try the flavors. The cashier came with us to give us the samples. We immediately came back to the register, but someone else was there. Instead of telling the customers that we were in the process of ordering, the cashier rang up their purchase and we had to wait behind them. Then when it was finally our turn, she greeted us as though we were completely new customers. It was bizarre. In most ice cream shops, you try a flavor and then immediately make a purchase. Once we did order, we had to go back to the freezer and tell the server what flavors we wanted. Which didn't make sense, because we had just told the cashier this when we ordered. If anything, they should move the cashier to next to the ice cream so they aren't constantly shafting people who just want to try a flavor before ordering, or even want to check what the flavors are.

The Belgian chocolate booza tasted okay, but it didn't have any stretchiness to it at all. The texture was just like regular ice cream. The other flavor we got did have some stretchiness and a different texture. But we both felt it wasn't worth $6.50 a cup.

Another problem is that they are cooking the kadayif strands right in the main cafe area, and the ventilation isn't sufficient, so after just a few minutes of standing in line you start to smell like oil and grease.
