Ok so I started going to church in the area. I’m African so growing up we always hit the buffet after church. I was hungry lol I looked up buffets and the other 2 in the area had some not so nice reviews. Mainly around how they felt rushed by the Asian staff or how the food was not hot or not tasty. I saw someone in the comments say I should have just stuck with my “Go to” on pleasant hill. I looked these guys up didn’t seem bad. I was so nervous. I walked up to the door and asked the guy jokingly as he came out if the food was hot and he said yes. Ok so a little affirmation. I get in and see the weekend price is $17. Yes buffet prices have gone up. Endless eating, price should have always been higher. The kids at the host stand greet me and seat me. Waitress was seasoned woman, so friendly. Left me alone to eat, but definitely kept an eye on my table to fill glasses, water, inquire if things were going well. I couldn’t ask for more or less from the service. I asked for the bill she was ready to go. Yes it’s a high volume resturant so quick and efficient service is the model. I didn’t feel rushed, I felt more like efficient. Yes take the dirty plates and fill my glasses. Drinks fill you up, but Would you want it the other way around? Empty cups? The goal is to be full. Not to be obese. Lol Granted I’m not a difficult customer with 6 kids trying to hold a table for 3 hours, but def enjoyed the service.
Now the food was sha-bussing! Delicious, quality ingredients, flavorful. People are honestly greedy, they had a fried crab section delicious. People really are still taking plate full of crabs , the small red things crawfish, and you can see these mamas running back and forth refilling the sections on the buffet. And it was all hot and all tasty. There was no lack or frustration from staff that was passed to customers. I mean someone of the food there was really seasoned and delicious. The fried crab and calamari stuck out to me. The calamari was so juicy plump and delicious. Def not a frozen low product the food quality was very high here. I literally enjoyed everything that I put in my mouth.
I think that cultural based restaurants get a bad rep. I’m Nigerian so I know what it feels like for my people or my culture to be at a service crossroads, making sure things go well from a client standpoint. There was a guy I checked out with at the front and I told him all of this and told him that the system / operation that they were running was very efficient, I didn’t feel rushed and the food was amazing. Told him I would leave a review.
The meal was 17 and change got up to about $20, still had no problem leaving a nice tip. When done right, everyone wins. I’ve found my new buffet spot for the area. They...
Read moreIf I could give this establishment zero stars, I truly would — and that still might not capture just how disappointing and disturbing my experience was. To be fair, I won’t deny that some of the food was actually quite decent; certain dishes had potential, and the kitchen seems to have some talent. However, the dining experience was utterly derailed by one of the most unprofessional, uncomfortable, and frankly shocking encounters I’ve ever had at a restaurant.
Let me set the scene: the service was abysmal from the start. Our server was inattentive and seemed indifferent to our presence. Dirty plates sat in front of us for the majority of the meal — we actually ended up having to clear the table ourselves by placing them on a nearby empty one. Drink refills? Forget it. We asked multiple times, politely, only to be ignored. It was frustrating, but we did our best to stay courteous and patient. That’s when things took a truly outrageous turn.
As we were leaving, a different server — who wasn’t even assigned to our table — suddenly grabbed me by the arm and physically pulled me back. Yes, you read that correctly. She grabbed me. Her tone was aggressive and entitled as she demanded more money for the tip I had already left — in cash, on the table. I was stunned. She actually had the nerve to ask if her service was unsatisfactory. I told her honestly: it absolutely was. How could it not be? Nothing was cleared, nothing was refilled, and above all, I was physically grabbed and harassed over a tip that she didn’t even earn.
To top it all off, she insisted she deserved a 40% tip. Forty percent — for what, exactly? For not serving us? For making us feel uncomfortable and disrespected? For violating personal boundaries? It was an appalling display of entitlement and aggression.
The incident left me shaken, angry, and deeply disappointed. No guest should ever be treated like that — especially not in a place that presents itself as a welcoming dining venue. I sincerely hope management addresses this kind of behavior, because what happened was not just rude — it was completely unacceptable.
Needless to say, I will never be returning. There are plenty of restaurants that offer not only good food, but also kindness, respect, and basic professionalism. This place failed on all counts but one — and even decent food isn’t enough to make up for what I...

My son and I visited this buffet two days ago. At first, the place seemed unusual - the parking lot was nearly empty, and the entrance doors were visibly dirty. We hesitated but decided to give it a try, based on previous positive experiences with other buffets.
Inside, the restaurant was mostly empty. Despite a sign saying they were hiring (especially kitchen staff), several employees were just standing around near the entrance, scrolling through their phones. They didn’t speak English, and I’m not sure what language they were using - possibly Vietnamese or Filipino.
We went to get food, but sadly, many of the dishes seemed to have been sitting out for too long. Some items were cold or had an odd smell, and we ended up leaving most of the food on our plates. It felt unsafe to eat. The meats were overly sweet and covered in strange sauces. Even the fruit was off - strawberries were soaked in sugary syrup and the cherries were not fresh.
What made things even more uncomfortable was that one of the staff members was following me closely while I was serving myself, watching everything I picked. That felt invasive and awkward.
When we sat down, a woman brought the bill right after we got our fruit. I paid with my card, and she came back and stood next to our table, waiting. I didn’t understand why at first, but it became clear she was waiting for me to leave a tip. I left a small tip (which I wasn’t obligated to do), and she immediately grabbed the receipt, squinted at the tip amount, then loudly said something in her language to a group of women nearby. They all turned to look at us and started talking and staring.
That felt incredibly disrespectful and unprofessional. We quietly finished and left, but the stares continued as we walked out. No one said thank you or goodbye.
Afterwards, I experienced stomach issues — and although I can’t be 100% sure it was the food, I certainly wouldn’t risk returning.
I’ve been to many restaurants and traveled a lot, and I’ve never encountered such a disappointing experience. It felt unwelcoming, unhygienic, and honestly, a bit hostile. I hope this helps others make...
