If I could give them a 0 I would or a negative number at this point. I have eaten at this place a couple of times and never had an issue until now. I have a shellfish allergy (it can kill me) and they have always been sensitive to my allergy until now.
I called in my order and first thing I said before putting in my order was that I have a shellfish allergy. The lady that took my call said that is fine I will make note of that. I got the hibachi steak and rice for my daughter and I. I know 2 shrimp comes complementary with the meal and I again said no shellfish.
I went to go pick up my order and usually look at my order but they put the meat at the bottom of the bag, I started taking the food out to double check and they assured me there wasn’t any shrimp in my food. Got home took my daughter’s food out and there were 2 shrimp right on top of her steak. I did not trip because my daughter can eat shrimp (even though I told them no shrimp in either meal). Took my meal out and scanned my meal real good, even moved some food around and didn’t see any shrimp, so I started eating. As I got to the bottom, there were 2 shrimp in my food.
I instantly took meds to counteract the reaction and grabbed my epi pen. Called Volcano back to inform them of what was in my food. The lady who took my order was very understanding, but management who would not come to the phone was not at all. They said they were sorry and could replace my order. I asked for them to refund me as well as replace my order. They refused. They said they would either replace my order or refund me but not both.
For someone who is deathly allergic to shellfish I felt they were very insensitive and lacked any concern for my health. I am thankful that I am here to be able to even type out my experience. The lady that took my order felt so bad that she could not do more for me, she told me that she understands if I go further with getting an attorney, which I am in the process of doing now, and going to the news about this.
I just wanted to shed light about us individuals who suffer with food allergies and how this specific location responded to their negligence. I feel for someone who has an allergy that severe more should be done. For this this place is horrible and needs...
Read moreHey y’all, happy Monday!
Pulled up to Volcano Steak & Sushi in Duluth, GA, and let me tell you—the vibez here never miss! If you didn’t know, Mondays = 50% off sushi rolls, so you already know I had to take advantage. My brother and I were both craving sushi, so this was the perfect spot.
We started with appetizers: • Agadashi Tofu – Y’ALL. This tofu was fried to perfection—lightly crispy on the outside, soft and silky inside, and paired with a delicious tempura sauce (I think lol). Either way, 10/10!! • Shrimp & Veggie Tempura – Had a nice crisp, but I wish it was fried just a little longer. Still solid. 8.5/10.
Now for the sushi! • Spicy Tuna Roll (added avocado) – Ehh, it was okay. The tuna was chopped nicely, but it lacked flavor and wasn’t even spicy. 6/10. • Yami 2024 Roll – OMG, 10,000/10!!! This roll was everything. The seared smoked salmon + fried crab combo was straight-up magical. Smoky, savory, and that garlic sauce on top just tied it all together. If you go here, you HAVE to try it! • Scorpion King Roll (my brother’s pick) – A good balance of shrimp and fried crab. Pretty tasty. 7/10. • Mango Tea w/ Lychee Boba – My brother said it was super sweet, so if you don’t like drinks that are too sugary, ask them to tone it down. It’s infused with jasmine tea, so it has a little floral taste too.
On top of the good food, this place has clean bathrooms, a big parking lot, and even little robots that deliver your food & drinks (so cool!). Overall, 8/10—definitely a spot worth...
Read moreMy partner and I went this evening due to TikTok and just always seeing it while driving bye. Their hibachi is a little overpriced for the portion size they give. They cut the size of the meat to half when you get a combination meal. The cook was great but the food was basic at best. They only put egg in the fried rice but if you’re going to charge $3 extra for fried rice that should be one egg per person. Instead for a table of 9 they used 3 eggs so we opted to add extra egg once we saw there was barely in the rice. The veggie portion was extremely small and the rice portion is not as plentiful as other hibachi places. The food could use more seasoning but I can tell their cutting cost at this place. Also, I’ve had better Sushi at Publix lol. The roll we had was very small and basic. They forgot the cucumber & when we notified the server she damn near put her finger on our sushi to show that there was cucumber. I had to open it up to show her she was pointing at the seaweed lol they remade it but still it just doesn’t meet the standard to be a sushi place as well. We experienced it once and that was more than enough, we don’t ever have to go back. I like to have leftovers for lunch and literally the meal is a one time eat!...
