This was our 3rd time going to sals barber shop , the first two experiences were awesome, however this last visit on Sunday 12 -9 -18 was one that we will not forget. The shop was packed as usual so we decided to go to the first available barber , what a huge mistake. I went first and this guy sets me in the corner with no mirrors and proceeded to butcher my hair , in and out of chair in under 5 mins. The other barbers have clients in there chairs for almost a half hour each . Anyway my son's turn with this butcher, he brought in a picture of what he wanted done and came out looking nothing like it ! One of the other barbers took one look at our haircuts and wanted to have us sit back down in his chair, thanks Steven for tring to repair that mess, unfortunately we didn't have anymore time to wait , and we left with my hair the way it was. Really disappointed in the way things got handled , no apologies, no discount, no nothing, in fact this guy charged more than any other barber at 50.00 for two shity haircuts. We really enjoy going to Sals but this guy really has me thinking of going elsewhere !
Update, you have to love a guy who answers your reviews and invites you to call him personally ! I called and talked to Sal he , himself was upset with the service we received and has made things right . I really enjoy going to Sals and have decided to continue to go there as they are the best in the area ! I'm not going to let one bad experience stop us from continuing to be their clients ! Although you should expect to walk out of there with your head held high and proud of the way you look ! Thanks you Sal ! One star review was a little harsh and have changed it to 5 stars due to Sal genuinely cares about his clients and the other barbers, Phil, Steve Russo , and Ian do some remarkable hair styles and are professional...
Read moreThe haircut I left with wasn't too bad, but the overall experience was poor for me. I was sat the back corner away from the large mirrors, unable to see what was going on with my head. The barber was meant to cut the sides of my head short, blend it into the top and clean up and take a little off the top. The guy never pulled out a pair of scissors which was very concerning. I wasn't even asked how I liked to style my hair, the barber used a ludicrous amount of some sort of hairspray and struggled as he tried to force my no hardened hair into some sort of direction. My barber then continued the cut my now rock hard hair, I guess he saw that he made quit a few mistakes at this point, went back to spraying down my head and once again struggled to move it around. The back of my neck and sides of my head were shaved with no shaving cream or soap of any kind to leave the moisture in the hairs resulting in an uncomfortable experience at the end of my haircut, and very noticeable razor burn on the back and sides of my head. I left with a very noticeable amount of hair down my right sleeve starting at the shoulder and all over my shorts, I just wanted to get out at this point. When I arrived home I did my best to wash my massive amount of hairspray product out of my head and a handful of hardened crusty clumps of hair, resulting from the hairspray, fell out. My hands were covered in it. I stopped into Sal's because it was convenient, I really needed a haircut and I had to cancel my appointment with my normal barbershop. Next time I'll just make another appointment with the barbershop I normally go with, the convenience of Sal's wasn't worth...

This is a review of my visit 10-26-2018 at 3:20 pm.
I've been on a decade long quest to find a barbershop local to me that would #1. be open "normal" hours, #2. Be in business for a while, #3. Actually know how to do a "Fade" correctly. I've had to resort to "salons" that don't always get it right.
If you're looking for that "old school" barbershop experience that you had when you were a kid, this is the place. The potential for a long wait time is there. But the lively banter and community feel are worth it. Hanging out with the crew and colorful cast of characters is quite entertaining. I was there for just about an hour, but (to those complaining about wait times), it's a barbershop and not a salon. You go, you sign in, and you wait for your barber. It's a community experience. It's not something you try to rush.
It's not just entertaining, however. These guys, they know how to cut hair. Very few people know how to do a "skin fade" correctly, and my barber, Phil, even asked if I wanted "stubble" or "down to the skin". The fade was blended perfectly and he kept the lines and corners square.
I asked him to clean up my eyebrows and he offered a suggestion enhance a scar that I have above my eyebrow. It was very artistic.
I believe I have found my new home for my...
