I’ve been visiting this beach for over 10 years. It’s still a nice, clean(ISH) lake beach compared to others within an hour drive. I would give it 5 stars except the last couple of years it’s become extremely overcrowded with all the people moving to Texas. I don’t even really mind that. What I DO mind, is the $10 parking fee, and that doesn’t guarantee a parking spot (and yes, they tell you that). No grills are allowed, you can only use theirs. Even while camping. Yep, you read that right, no frills, even while camping (you can camp for a fee) Cops are patrolling constantly, which you would think is great, except when we came yesterday the cops were literally bugging people doing nothing wrong. There was a girl listening to her music on her phone, barely noticeable at all, and they told her to turn her music off. I don’t get it. I get that radios are loud, but a quiet phone speaker with some light music that’s quieter than speaker conversations around is just ridiculous. I’m talking 2 cops standing above this teen girl, hands on hips, just for music. Like, come on. If you have kids, they’ll have a blast for sure, on the shore, but In the water, watch out for the floating beer cans. Otherwise, a decent place to come spend $10 to laze around for a day.
