We love the seafood at Krab Kingz and drive 45 minutes one way to pick up our orders from Little Elm. We hadn’t eaten inside the establishment before, but decided to do so last week. First of all, they didn’t provide gloves or bibs and if you wanted crab crackers while eating there, you had to buy them. That was a first… If we had known this we would have bought our items from home. We ended up spending almost $100 after buying the extra things needed to enjoy our in-store dining experience.
More importantly, we knew that the dining area was nothing fancy, but we didn’t expect the level of uncleanliness that we observed. Initially, we were ok with wiping off our own table & chairs (even though employees should be doing that); however, we used the one bathroom that was in service to wash our hands before & after eating and we were HIGHLY disappointed!! It was filthy!! From the sink to the toilet to the floors & even the vents…the place REALLY needs a deep cleaning!!!
Dirty tables were somewhat tolerable, but the bathroom was totally unacceptable. The experience caused me to wonder: if no one had taken the time to clean the eating areas in the dining room & the bathroom was that dirty and (perhaps) moldy, I shuddered to imagine what was happening or not happening behind that wall in the kitchen!
From this experience, it doesn’t appear that Krab Kingz & its employees value sanitation & cleanliness. That is a HUGE CONCERN!!
We love the food, but after this experience we have decided to not order or eat at this location until we know that it has been thoroughly cleaned top to bottom.
We regret that this means less Krab Kingz for us & a longer travel time to visit a different, hopefully clean Krab Kingz location.
I was torn about writing this review. I don’t want to bash this establishment because we love KK, but I decided to post it in hopes that this review will convince Management & the employees to prioritize cleanliness throughout the restaurant…or move to a newer, cleaner location.
We look forward to hopefully getting to return to Krab Kingz in the future — once it is properly cleaned & sanitizing efforts have improved and are being prioritized.
We and (I’m sure) the majority of your customers will greatly...
Read moreMy husband I have been wanting to try this place for a long time. Some friends said that they love the food but hadn't ever eating at the restaurant. So we went as a group to have dinner, and the food was really good. I will say the food took a bit longer then expected, but worth the wait. We got a catfish platter, the shrimp pasta, and 2 of the different crab cluster meals. We all left very happy. My husband hasn't had such good catfish in a while, and I agree; I'm used to a dirt taste to them and there was none and it was so tender and juicy. The pasta sauce was a big hit as people kept dipping things into it after the pasta and shrimp were gone. The clusters were good sized and cooked very nicely, the sausages and potatoes were perfect. The star of the meal for the guys were the hush puppies, apparently they were amazing; I didn't get a chance to taste one as the husbands had devoured them. They do have you pay for items like Crackers, and honestly it's probably because people kept stealing them and those things aren't cheap after a long time of replacing them. We got to keep the crackers we bought (which is great since I love crab), and they are good and sturdy. Worth the $5 in my opinion. We did lots of people watching while we waited, and we noticed that EVERY meal was checked and double checked before sending off for to go or to a patron. They were very meticulous and exact with each order, and that is an impressive way of ensuring the quality and accuracy of the orders. They were very busy but they rocked out every order. The staff were nice, but you could tell they had been working really hard (in the best way). It felt very much like they had a personal investment in the restaurant. As for atmosphere, personally I loved it. It wasn't wild or fancy- it's a small business that doesn't go overboard and let's their food and service speak for itself. They had fun music and a big tv that was showing fun shows, and at no point did we feel unwanted or out of place. I will say I have 1 "complaint", the sinks in the bathrooms seem to be only on hot temps so be a bit cautious washing your hands. But nothing that isn't fixable at all.
10/10 would love to eat here or order take out...
Read moreI'll be honest I really wanted to like this place. We recently built a new home in Oak Point and were excited to have a crab place close to home.
First, they are only open from Thursday - Sunday - cool, NP. My first impression, was that the place wasn't being cleaned well. Door handles to the bathroom and refrigerator where you get your drinks were all caked with dirt and grim like they NEVER clean those areas and they are all high touch. The entire front portion of the restaurant is the dining area, but I felt like I was in a skating rink. You can tell they use the same mop and mop water that they use in the back to mop the front area without changing the water or using a different mop. That should have been my first sign to walk out, but they had some good reviews and possibly may be a black owned business so I wanted to give them the benefit of the doubt. We got the #1 spicy for 52.99, kids shrimp and shrimp pasta for my daughter. Now, I have to be fair. The pasta was decent and I'd possibly get that again, but based on the cleanliness of the restaurant, IDK. Now, let's talk about the crab because the name of the restaurant IS King Krab. I love me some crab and have tried many places but what they are making is overcooked, way too buttery and greasy and has ZERO flavor. There arw too many potatoes and honestly it was just gross. Perhaps, the spicy flavor is not what they are known for and the garlic butter is better, but overall I was just not impressed. I've always lived in central Dallas until moving to LE so we did have access to lots of good restaurants, but I am shocked at how many people like this place. Maybe, they just don't know anything else?!? In my opinion, you can get waaaay better food at Kicking Crab in Carrollton or even Crab Station, but Kicking Crab is my fav. As a result of this horrible experience I know I'll have to make up for it by going somewhere else. Long story short, don't...
