Best indian food in the area. Our family doesn't eat out very often as we are are usually disappointed with other places when we try them, but Sawaii comes through every time! We have tried a large portion of the menu over our many visits and it's all delicious. Bear with me as this will get long, but I want to help you try to branch out of your typical indian fare and taste some of the gems on this menu. The ingredients are high quality and food is consistently delicious. Our favorites for appetizers are the onion spinach pakoras (the batter is full of flavor and the chutneys are a perfect spicy and sweet balance), the spicy shrimp is spicy and nothing like I've ever tried at other Indian restaurants it has a chunky spicy almost relish that it's cooked in and filled with the flavor of curry leaves and chilies served on a bed of shredded cabbage, the samosa's are fresh and with a flavorful filling of pease/potatoes. Don't miss the sizzlers, these are outstanding with some roti or bullet naan to wrap around the sizzling morsels. The tandoori fish and chilli paneer babycorn are our favorites. They are marinated to perfection and arrive sizzling to the table with veggies to accompany them on the tray too. It's a generous portion size to share with the table. We have tried the chicken ones too which are very enjoyable as well, we usually pick chicken for our entree dishes and stick to the other sizzlers I listed. Now onto the entrees, the kohlapuri chicken is a rich spicy gravy full bodied with flavor, the kadhai chicken has a nice blend of bell peppers, onions, tomatoes and with a medium spice level and is enjoyed by all, the malavani chicken has what I would describe as a warmer blend of spices like cinnamon, clove, nutmeg, among the usual indian spices and desiccated coconut in the gravy. It's a specialty there and you won't find any place around here with a dish that tastes like that! We also often get the malai kofta, the vegetarian "meatballs" with a creamy savory gravy with a hint of sweetness brings a wonderful balance to the meal. Now, let's talk breads. The bullet Naan is for anyone that loves a spicy naan, the chili and garlic hit high on this one, it's spicy yet addictive and you will keep coming back to the basket until it disappers. The roti is a nice contrasting option, its a simple wheat roti that can help cool your tongue if your tastebuds are zinging from the bullet naan. And last, do yourself a favor and try a mango lassi, the rich, sweet, mango drink will top off your meal. Filling up those last spaces in your tummy. The servers there are efficient and friendly. The prices are good with the quality and the portion size. We have never been disappointed with any of our many dining experiences at Sawaii! Give it a try and go out on a limb from the usual Chicken tikka and garlic naan you've been eating....you know who you are. This place is a hidden gem and there's many unique options on the menu! This is a great place to go with a few friends so you can order several things and get to sample the menu....
Read moreWent here for the first time with my wife and daughter. It was only our 2nd time to try Indian cuisine and we weren't exactly sure what to expect or even what to order. Thankfully the menu had detailed descriptions of the dishes so we had a general idea of what we were getting. The staff was also very friendly and attentive, providing excellent service and accomodating our 1 year old daughter's needs. Everything we ordered tasted delicious! The best overall description I could give is hearty comfort food that is packed with a balanced symphony of flavors and spices. It was a terrific change of pace from out regular fare of mexican and italian foods. I highly recommend the chicken samosas as an appetizer. I had the mulligatawny soup which was a flavorful lentil rice based soup. My wife got the chicken Tikka Masala medium and I got the chicken Korma, extra spicy. At our waitresses suggestion we also got an order of Garlic Cilantro Naan bread to go with both of our dishes. This was a chewy flat bread that was perfect for sopping up the delicious gravies of both our dishes. The cream base of my chicken Korma offset the spice and resulted in a lovely dish. We split a strawberry Lassi for desert and couldn't have been more satisfied with a dining experience. We will definitely be returning to explore all of the other options...
Read moreI had a terrible experience here. I ordered food for pickup through Uber eats. I drive 30 mins to pick up the food. I get to the restaurant they tell me the order was cancelled. I said I didn’t cancel the order…why the heck would I cancel the order and drive 30 mins to pick hit up…makes no sense. They then tell me Uber cancelled the order automatically because the restaurant didn’t have 1 dish in stock. I called Uber customer service and they investigated and told me that it was indeed the restaurant that cancelled the order without even informing me. I wasted so much time driving to pick up the food. And we had a large group of people waiting for food. They didn’t even admit they screwed up…instead they tried to blame it on Uber. The staff here apparently needs training on how to use Uber because they seem to be clueless or they just lie to customers.
Unfortunately, I had people waiting for food so I had no choice but to reorder and wait. They didn’t even compensate me in any way for this mess. So, they also need training on how to own up to their mistake and provide customer service to make...
