At the owner's request: my rating is focused mostly on my experience in wanting to sign up for membership. This was the first location I visited when I was interested and was a little lost because there was no one at the front desk.. I waited ten minutes until someone finally popped up. I mentioned I was interested in signing up. I was able to tour the facility. During the tour, the conversation was such that I wasn't confident. I wasn't sold. I was told if I went online, I would be able to find a 10-day pass to try the gym out. I never found it. I saw a friend during that visit and the next day let me know promotions run from time to time, one being in May. I didn't want to wait that long to get started, so I went back to inquire about this. I asked another staff member about that specific promotion and they didn't know. The second visit I was told if I downloaded the app they have promotions in there sometimes. I downloaded the app, but I never found them. I went back a third time a week later, different staff member, ready to sign up and get started since this was going on for a couple weeks. My inquiry about promotions was met with an "I don't know." Frustrated, I left. Multiple friends told me they preferred going to Rodney Parham, so I decided to go there. I mentioned I was interested in signing up. I was able to tour the facility. I saw some of my friends there during the tour, which was reassuring. I explained my experience with University. He helped me with a promo code to overcome what I feel is a misleading incentive to sign up for just $10 (when a monthly fee is charged three days later, followed by an annual and monthly fee one month later). The promotion helped resolve this objection and I was able to thank a friend for telling me about the gym in the process, while also learning how I can better help my friends in the future. Though I ended up signing up at Rodney Parham and hear it is a busier location, I will feel better about working out there until I won't have to worry about the staff's attention to customer service. Not sure when that would ever be. This location got three stars because I am sure the facilities are wonderful. Rodney Parham's facilities seem just as good (if not better, since their class schedule looks more robust). They got the other two stars because their customer service earned my trust...
Read moreAfter waiting an hour in line to speak with your desk agent, I was prepared to pay the $80 cancellation fee. However, your staff member verbally agreed to waive this fee if I provided documentation showing the address of my friend, with whom I will be relocating to Northwest Arkansas. I made it clear that my name would not appear on the document since I will not be responsible for the bills at that address. He assured me that this would not be an issue.
While still at your desk, I contacted my friend, who was not home at the time but made a special effort to return and send me the requested document. I promptly texted the document to your employee, who confirmed that it was sufficient. Despite this, I was still charged the $80 cancellation fee.
Upon returning to your desk to resolve the matter, another agent informed me that the original staff member had simply failed to upload the document. I was then asked to resend the document, which I did, and I was told that was all that was needed…yet the charge was not reversed.
This situation is unacceptable. I honored the terms set by your staff, spent significant time addressing their requests, and yet was still improperly charged. When addressed with your management team through e-mail, they stopped responding after one reply. You have shown you do not care to waste the time of your clients, nor offer a reasonable cancelation after following exact instructions...
Read moreOverall it's a nice gym, just small due to the building space.
Would I recommend? Yes!
Cons: (personal) It's smaller than what I am used too coming from the larger Esporta gym in my area. As a result, it does become quite crowded throughout certain periods of the day. I'm not mad at anyone wanting to get their gains in though (only those who are "in the way"). The weight room sometimes has an oder (not sure if that's because it's a closed off space or just guy funk building up over time).
Neutral: The bathroom itself is fine, but the counters are always wet from people washing their hands (which is a good thing) and there isn't a paper towel dispensary. The staffs are few--it makes sense considering the gym size--but I haven't had any issues with getting to the john when I need to go.
Pros: I like that they have equipment for all of my workouts. It's not to far from my apartment. It's affordable. The staff is chill, and I've only encounter one weirdo--a gym member NOT staff--in the past 5-6 months I've attended. Oh! And I love that it'd 24hrs as someone who's a night owl from...
